Default Vibes in the bars - Not so much anymore

Well, I have over 20K on my TC in the past couple years. I read SOME time ago on another forum about some riders that filled the TC bars with that spray insulating foam to help reduce the road vibes in the grips. I have never been real happy with the little isolation there is from the Tree into the bar mounts. The TC has also had a history of rough front forks as well which can be calmed with new springs or playing with oil viscosity.
Me, I slapped a set of ISO Grips on and called it good. I am thourghly impressed with the TC as is and IF you change that fork oil 15K or less I think it is not that big a deal.
However,
I came across a can of the spray insulation in my garage Monday while moving some stuff, the TC was already out in the Driveway sooooo..... You guessed it, I decided to try it. Pulled the grips, trimmed 1" off the bar ends (Never did like how far apart my arms were with the stock TC bars) and covered any exposed area of the bike where this sticky stuff could get. Lesson learned, I SHOULD have plugged the end I was shooting into forcing it clean through the bar out the other side. I think that might have worked better. In the end, I made a little mess on the drive, hands all sticky, insulatio ooozzzzing out for about an hour and it took a few hours before I felt safe to put the grips back together. Alcohol cleaned up the bar just fine. So, 100 miles on the bike now on these crappy highways around here and wouldnt you know... It did help. No mircles, just a nice reduction in vibes...

Worth the time if you want to try it. Will will be messy but I am happy with it.

Interesting. While I don't have a problem with 'vibes' from my handlebars, I haven't had the bike too long. If it ever does become an issue I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks Tim!

I did the liquid Bar Snake in my 99 & my old TC-kinda screwed me when I later wanted to run some heated grip wires on the TC but it did take most of the buzz out. I wouldn't think expanding foam would have the density to dampen vibration-I know I've heard gray bearded tales of filling the bars with lead shot back in the day-at least it was reversible.

Bar snake looks good. I think I may have even tried a tube of silicone now that I did it. Again, cork the feed end and push all the way through. Anyway, could be physiological but feels better. Lol
