Default Any Suggestions: Handlebar risers

My 2000 currently has the stock handlebar and risers. The risers have an offset in them. I want to replace them with a 4" pull back riser. I've been able to find straight ones, but none that have an offset so that I can use it with my stock handlebar.

Does anyone know who makes an offset pullback riser?

I don't believe such a thing is being made by anyone...

I did some searching myself a few years back, and ended up using straight pullbacks and showing a bit of handlebar knurling on each side.

H-D risers work if you either drill out the top triple tree or use adapter studs - I went the stud route.

That stinks!!! Was it quite easy to transfer over all the cables, grips and stuff? Can you upload a picture of your new bars?

I used the Vic Narrow Classic bars - same bends & angles as the factory bars, but 4" narrower in the center (p/n 2872140). The risers I used are a total of 5" up and 2.25" back - swapmeet sourced, was told they were from a late '80s HD.

I have a 2" longer brake line, but due to the narrower bars, I could keep the original clutch cable & didn't have to extend the wiring harness. (It's possible that I could've gotten by with the stock length brake hose, but I was replacing it with a Galfer braided hose anyway, so I went for 2" over to be safe.) If you keep the original stock bars, you'll likely have to go with a longer clutch cable and brake hose & extend the wiring.

I used adapter studs (1/2" to 10 mm) from Thunder Mfg. ( Here ) - they list them for Kawasaki use, but are perfect for using risers with the 1/2" thread on the Vic triple trees without drilling out the holes (which are for 10 mm bolts).

There's about 3/16" of knurling visible to the outside of the risers, but it's not intrusive-looking.

Forgot to mention - add throttle & fast idle cables to my above post, same experience & caveats as with the clutch cable.

Colorado, I ordered a set of risers and was unable to install them. Now I'm about to order the adapter studs you recommended. Do you know if this is sold in pairs or is the price for individual studs?

Price per pair.

Alternatively, if you have a good machine shop handy, they can take a piece of 1/2-14 (I think that's the thread on the HD risers) all-thread, and have them turn down the end & tap it to 10mm x 1.25 (Again, I think that's right - cross check to be sure though).

You'll want to make sure the 10 mm end is long enough to go through the triple tree with enough to install the nut with a few threads showing.

I've no machine shop I routinely deal with, so I bought the ones Thunder Mfg. has; worked fine.

Thanks Colorado. I just ordered a set aand now its just a waiting game. Hopefully, my new risers don't require any cable modifications. I'll post pics after installation.

Default New Riser Results

So, here's an update to the original post:
Purchases:
- $25: 3.5" pull back chrome risers w/ 1/2-13 thread from Amazon
- $22: Riser adapter bolts pair Thunder MFG Part Number T-001 (1/2-13 to 10mm-1.25 thread)

Lessons learned:
- The cheap risers actually looks pretty good (pic 1); but betters ones will come with time and money or is that money and time
- The risers really helped with the reach; I feel more comfortable
- The exposed knurls are not as bad as I anticipated, it's bearable (pic 2)
- With the stock handlebar, I did not have to replace any cables (pic 2)
- The risers either needs to be a bit taller or straighter; it's current configuration does not allow the handlebar to be turned all the way; the handlebar will dent the tank if cranked all the way (pic 3)
