Welcome to the forum.
I find it amusing that dirt bike riders think things carry over although they are the first to say that street riders can't do much in the dirt. It works equally in both directions my friend. You have a lot of learning to do about street riding. I know from experience, I can crash on a dirt bike in 60 seconds flat but have no troubles on the highways.

Present ride - 2013 Victory Vision, black, ATW at +3, Lloydz air filter and adjustable intake, PC5, 30,xxx miles

It's not that we think it's relative totally... Knowing how to control a motorcycle on dirt or street is very relative. Throttle control, braking, accelerating through corners it all carries through from dirt to street. A man that raced motocross for 13 years is going to be a heads up competent rider on any type of 2 wheeled machine. He will be a little aggressive but in a good way. The best riders I know where racers... I know road racers that can easily transition to dirt other than hitting 60 ft gaps they get it. If you raced competitively you can ride anything and that's a fact.
