Default New member with 2000 V92C, need help

Just got "rough" 2000 V92C, loud tap in engine, disabled & low income, so grateful for help - bad oil pump? Bad lifters? Hope to save motor. Dealer mechanic says $1500 minimum! Plz help if you can

It ain't cheap, but you'd be better off swapping a 2002 or 2003 freedom motor into it. Where is the noise coming from? Top or bottom of engine? Front or rear cylinder?

I would say that a 2000 model is not the best bike for someone on a fixed income. To get it up to the reliability of the new bikes can take many thousands of dollars.
The first thing that popped into my mind given what you have typed here would be a broken valve spring. The pre-Freedom motors were notorious for that - and yes it will be a pricey repair. Of course with a 2000 model it could be several other expensive items too....

I recently asked for help with a 2000 V92C. The following is true: A) Voice recording on iPhone sucks, and B) both VicBuilder and GhostRider replied. That says a lot about these two riders, I am really grateful for their time and advice.
I want to share with everyone that I was worried about engine noise. After a month of searching and visits to the shop, the problem was unsupported washers on the tank bolts! Thanks again to these two people for trying to help me. Love my new 15-year-old Victory! ? ?? USA Baby!

Good on you mate. Don't you just love it when something that you think is going to be a serious repair turns out to be an easy fix!

About six months ago my Road King developed this god-awful clunk in the front end whenever I hit a decent sized bump. I could feel the clunk through the bars and was thinking steering head bearings and so on. I was having a look around the bike and removed the seat. There staring at me was the bolt that secures the rear of the fuel tank to the frame - it had just about fallen out.

Tightened it up and that clunk was gone completely! It was the tank just smacking the frame but I could have sworn the noise was coming from the front end. All fixed for zero dollars!

To ozpacman :+1: Thanks for sharing your own story about loose gas tank bolts & rattles! I do have to tell you, however, that after volunteering with food for homeless this morning, I got to A) ride in the rain, and B) have my rear brake pedal "rod" jam locking the back wheel! Luckily didn't crash, ended @ Longhorn Steakhouse while waiting for Vic shop to p/u my bike! I'm getting the hang of riding again!!:us:
