Welcome to the forum. Of course, we will need more information in order to help you in your search.

Which one of the Arlen Ness bikes are you looking at? The current Arlen Ness bike is the Vision but his son, Cory's name is on the Cross Country as is a XC from Zach Ness. Arlen also had his name on Kingpin's and Jackpot models a few years back. So... are you looking at a new bike or a used?

Wow thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking used and have found this one locally. http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/3532683935.html

My first question is how can I verify that the bike is really an Arlen Ness? And anything in specific I should look for with the bike as a warning sign? Lastly while I double checked and KBB did list the value around the asking price, what would be a realistic price for it?

Not sure about the Arlen Ness association but If your able to get a Victory for the right price you wont be disappointed, I wasn't. I have a 04 Victory TC with the 92, smooth running bike with no issues.

That one is a BASE model Vegas. The Ness edition was a different color and did NOT have EFI on the cheese wedge like the one in your photo has. Here is a link to the base model in an online listing. You can see how these are identical other than the add-on leather saddlebags the guy in Colorado has...
http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/20...s/base/510/05/

Below you will find a number of links to details about the actual '04 Ness bikes but this excerpt probably is the most illuminating as the bike listed does not appear to have ANY of the items highlighted in bold that would distinguish it from a base model...
"For the 2004 model year, Victory offered standard Vegas models as well as a new limited-edition Arlen Ness Signature Series Vegas. This bike featured rich custom paint, custom wheels, numerous Ness accessories, the Arlen Ness logo on the EFI cover, an Arlen Ness signature on the side cover, and a numbered plate identifying the bike as a limited-edition Victory."

It's fairly common to see seller's attempting to 'represent' their bikes as Ness models for the higher valuations rather than acknowledging that the base model is worth significantly less than they would like. It looks like this seller is saying that the dealer that sold it to him "claimed" it as a Ness so that they could get more $'s for it at the time. So he probably overpaid based on misinformation & now may simply be trying to propagate that error. Heck, the paperwork he has from the original dealer may even say it's a Ness but that would be in error. Perhaps the guy just doesn't know what he actually has. My thoughts...It's a base, low mileage Vegas so it's actually worth between $4,275 (KBB trade in) and $6K for a low or NO mileage bike in near mint condition.

Here are the details on the introduction of the Ness editions way back then...

Here is another valuation link that shows the paint options available on the Ness bikes for '04 as well as other years. You will notice that a blue Ness Vegas WAS offered in 2005 but even then, it's a different blue than your ad shows.

What did the seller say about the bike? Did she she even realize it wasn't a Ness version?

Default BEST looking Cruiser Ness EVER made was...

The BEST looking Cruiser Ness EVER made was the '09 Cory Ness Jackpot which was a STUNNING white/black color combo. The Wheels alone on that puppy can make a grown man drool! Unfortunately, you can't really find them out there for any kind of 'realistic' price probably due to how much of a stand out they are. Here is one from that list where the guy is asking about TWICE what they sold for NEW!
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/3609598135.html

Video of one...

That being stated, below is an ad for a "regular" Vegas that is THREE years newer than the OP's and the seller is asking $7K so he'll likely take less. If someone only had $6,500 to spend, they would do well to buy this one (if it's still available). The '07 models are probably the better deal as there were a number of engine enhancements from the '04 to the '07 models (grew from 92cu to 100cu & fuel injection came in '06 and that is probably the single most valuable difference).
