Default New Member Having Trouble Buying & Shipping A Vision

I've been wanting a Vision for quite some time. I had no luck with local dealers, so I bought a bike online from Mies Outland in Watkins, MN. On March 28, I bought a 2008 Vision Premium with 28K miles, new tires, stage 1 exhaust. I paid $7200 and the deal was to include shipping to my residence in PA. The dealership set up the shipping, since it was included with the deal. I had no idea who they were going to use until the shipping contract was emailed to me. That's when I realized they were using Haul Bikes. I'm finding that Haul Bikes is a terrible company to deal with. There is very little communication, the communication that does take place is vague and noncommittal. The dealer said I would have the bike by the end of April, it is almost the middle of May and I still don't have the bike. No idea where the bike actually is or if/when it will ever arrive. I'm finding nothing but bad reviews about Haul Bikes online. I've contacted the dealership and they say that there is nothing they will do to help. My contact at Haul Bikes has her auto reply set to say she won't be available until the middle of June. I'm not sure where to go from here, or if there is any legal action I can take. I filed a claim with the BBB, but no results. Any suggestions will be appreciated if anyone has had similar problems, please let me know what you did to resolve them.

Call them out on their Facebook page. Posting your situation may help you get a response because it's out there for the world to see.

Note that this tactic has worked for several people in the past that have had problems with dealerships and vendors.

Mies is one of the largest dealers in the 6 state area. Last time I was there they must of had 200 new Vic's and 300 used ones. From what I have heard about bike hall is they wait till they have 3 or 4 bikes going to the same area then they go that way and deliver.
Its a shame they will not help you

What were the terms of the contract regarding the shipping? If the dealer arranged the shipping, then it would seem that they are responsible in ensuring that the shipping takes place in proper fashion.

I was interested in buying a bike a few states away, but that dealer didn't want to accept responsibility for shipping. They offered to help in getting the bike ready for shipment, along with loading the bike, but that was it. I would be responsible for selecting and paying the shipping company, etc, etc.

Sounds like they are responsible...do you have a contract?

How long will it take?

Total transit time 21-28 business days from booking to delivery. Northwestern states have longer transit times.
OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, UT and CA zip codes beginning in 955 (in green on map) - 26-35 day transit time.

Update. I had posted a negative review of Haulbikes on a site called trust pilot last Tuesday evening. On Friday 5-11 the new customer service manager of Haulbikes responded to the review as well as called me. He apologized for the lack of communication from their company and apologized for the bike being late. He said he will monitor the rest of the delivery and that the bike should be here between May 15th and 17th. Hopefully the bike shows up and is damage free.
This ordeal has been a nightmare. I assumed a dealership the size of Mies would have used a more professional transporter. I did not know the transporter until I received the shipping contract via email. Once I learned who the shipper was I checked reviews and found a ton of negative reviews most of which described just what I have experienced. I'm very disappointed in the dealership since they arranged the shipping using a transporter with such horrible reviews. I feel the dealership shares responsibility in the situation. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone or buy from them again.
As for Haulbikes I will not ever use them again. there was no communication what so ever. I did not know when the bike was picked up or any of the movements of the bike. Any communication had to be initiated by me and then their responses (if I got a response) were very vague and generic. The contract I received from them stated total service time would be 21 to 28 days which has long passed. The contact person I was assigned at Haulbikes set the auto reply on her email to say she was out until mid June - she emailed me from her office yesterday however after the customer service manager got involved. I have had bikes shipped by other transporters with no issues. If I ever buy out of state again I'll definitely arrange my own shipping.

Well that is at least some positive news. I hope it does work out and you get a great bike. Be sure to let us know the outcome and post some photos. It's a shame that some business just don't seem to focus on the customer anymore. Its strange that on their website they talk about being bike owners so thus they understand our concerns with shipping.

I was telling a friend about your problem with haull bike. He said he shipped his bike to AZ. It was scheduled to arrive 1/5 it didn't show up. He called them and said truck was in las vegas and it had a broken windshield. Driver couldn't find windshield. Bike showed up on the 19th. He asked the driver and he had a different story why he was late. Guess flying and ride home is a better deal

Good to know. Been considering long distance purchase like that if I found a can't miss deal. I'll be avoiding this company.

I don't recall who the dealer in Montana used to get my CCT to Randy's Cycle in IL back in March of 2013. It was a new bike dealer to dealer transfer as I wanted a new gloss pearl white CCT. The transport company did miss the original promised delivery date by about three weeks. Yes, they went through nearly all the western states to fill the truck before heading to IL I remember being told the truck was in CA, NV and AZ which you would certainly not travel through to go from MT to IL. But, my CCT showed up in perfect condition.

As is their standard business practice, Randy's Cycle stayed involved and regularly kept me up to date on exactly what was happening. I wouldn't hesitate an instant buying another bike from Randy's Cycle in Marengo, IL even though I now live in Chattanooga, TN.

All the best,

Mark

Another update:

I finally received the bike on Wednesday May 16. I had to have them deliver it to my work. Although Haul Bikes advertises 24/7 delivery, including holidays and weekends, that is not the case. If no one is available to receive delivery of the bike on their schedule, then there is a $250 delivery attempt fee. I had them drop it at my work. No noticeable transport damage, although the bike was filthy from the 5 week delivery time. I rode the bike home that night, seems to run well, although there is a lot of transmission noise. The lower the gear, the more noise. I'm not sure if this is normal with a Vision? My '07 Vegas has some similar noise, but it is not nearly as noticeable. I'll post some pictures once I get the bike clean.
