Default Hi from Beijing China!

I may very well be the only Victory owner in Beijing (perhaps all of China?), and almost certainly the only Kingpin owner. Yup, I'm one in a billion! (actually, >1.3 billion)

Mine's a 2005 92 c.i. with only 2,000 miles on it. Just finally got it into the city.

Harleys are the fashionable rage here, but only a few expats (and even fewer Chinese) know about Victory bikes. No one has ever seen one on the road.

So, I am hoping my lonely Victory Kingpin existence is offset by camaraderie in this forum.

Actually, it is kinda scary being so unique - naturally, there is virtually no parts / service support in Beijing.

OMG, what have I done?

Wow, talk about pressure. You're responsible for single-handedly turning an entire nation.

How difficult was it to get one registered in the country? Does it get much attention?

Welcome - great to know you.

Thanks folks! I'm very happy to have found this site. It has already answered several questions I had.

I was a long-time HD guy before I moved to China. I heard many rumors back home that certain HD parts were made in China. Now that I am here, I hear many rumors among the Chinese that all HD parts are made in the USA! HDs are still good bikes, whatever the truth might be.

I've been in China about a decade and watched HD go through its difficulties in China. This is a very tough market for any company.

I read somewhere that Victory is planning to enter India, apparently bypassing China. Or maybe it is waiting. One thing is certain, there is no recession here, and HD is selling anything & everything it brings in, at about 2 to 3 times the price of back in the USA.

Difficult? Actually - it is pretty much impossible unless you have some connections, and are willing to deal with layer upon layer of bureaucracy. And even then, there is probably only a tiny chance of being successful.

The Victory is commonly mistaken for a HD. It draws an incredible amount of attention. Victory would do very well here. But I am sure it knows about the difficulties in this market.

The weather is getting better now, so I'll be sure and take lots of pics of the Victory around famous tourist sites and post them on this website.

One goal I have is to get a pic of the Victory inside the DPRK - I might have a way to accomplish that most impossible of impossible tasks, I think - and THAT would definitely be a first!

What is DPRK? Sorry I do not get it. Congrats on getting a bike into that country with all the RED tape. Got to be worse than the DMV here by far. Enjoy the new bike. I imagine you can have the parts shipped if you ever need any.

Sorry - DPRK = Democratic People's Republic of Korea (aka North Korea). Governed first by the Great Leader, followed by the Dear Leader (current), soon to be the Mini-Me Leader.

Unfortunately, my bike is blue (but my fave color) - it would be perfect if it was RED in China

Yeah, I was selfishly hoping that this forum's members would take pity on me and help me out by shipping stuff to me. For example, proper air & oil filters (oil apparently can't be shipped - and probably can't be taken onboard a plane - anyone out there planning on taking the Slow Boat to China?). Free beer when you arrive!
