Default K&P oil filter

Thinking about purchasing one from witch doctor. Can anyone tell me if it makes a difference?

There are many good filters out there and K&N is one of them. You definitely want to avoid the cheapies, such as Fram and Purolator. Also good are Wix and Amsoil filters. The smaller the micron number, the finer the filtration.
Beware, if you do get the K&N filter with the hex fitting, do not use a wrench on it to tighten--that should be done by hand only. The hex is there to facilitate removal only.

yes oil filters were being discussed elsewhere on here ,
Ive recently messaged a seller of K+P filters on ebay asking how many microns they filter down to and heres the reply, and I paid $21 Aust for a Polaris filter, so theres a big saving over time with reusable filters.
anyway heres what they said...
Just heard back from the K+P people
We use ASTMF316 testing procedures which eliminate many of the user variables found in the SAE procedures. We sent filter media from several common brands of paper filters to the lab to be run through the ASTM test.

The results for the paper filters ranged from 48 microns for the best filter to over 300 microns for the worst filter. Paper media filters pass particles anywhere between 50 and 90 microns. Paper filters are rated on averages, percentages of efficiency (also known as beta ratios) and multiple passes, so a 10 micron rated paper filter (as advertised on the packaging) may be letting particles 50 microns and larger through.

The medical grade stainless steel cloth that we use is consistent across the entire media surface and is rated at 35 microns, meaning nothing larger than 35 microns will pass through the material. The bottom line is we meet or exceed the filtration performance of OEM filters with improved oil flow at lower pressure.

How you going to clean the screen? Where you washing it at? Now you have to buy carb cleaner or dawn dish soap to clean the screen so thats add coast.
No body can see the filter and if you go to auto store and buy a Wix filter for $6.99 how many Wix can you buy before its a even steven trade off.
