How to verify fender issue Victory Vision
I first read about it in the listed complaints on the NHTSA web site. I have a few quick suggestions:
1. Go to nhtsa.gov and look at the complaints, to see if any of them are about 2013 or 2014 model year.
2. Find a 2012 or 2011 that has been traded in, or one that is for sale, and look at it, take some cell phone pictures. Compare those with the 2013/2014 in the showroom, make the dealer show you the bracket he's talking about.
3. Get the sale all set up, then insist that the dealer put in a signed rider that the issue detailed in the complaints about Victory Vision front fenders has been resolved for your bike, specifically by VIN number, and stating that if there is an issue, the dealer will be responsible for the cost of any repairs not covered by Polaris Industries itself, to include any incidental damage resulting from fender failure as detailed by NHTSA.
If he won't do that, thank him for his time and walk slowly out without signing. Or, find a dealer who will, or take your chances.
The foregoing is based on having bought a 2000, having the transmission literally lock up on me just like the engineering analysis said it would, and Polaris not standing behind their product per the letter they issued to other owners but not to me. Cost me $4000 out of pocket.
