Default Wannabe needs advice on Vision fender issue

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 13 or 14 Vision. The front fender issue has me worried. I talked to my dealer about it and they claim the issue was only for 2011 and 2012 Visions and Victory has resolved it by adding a bracket to the fender. I didn't see anything about a fender fix by Victory on this forum and I'm wondering if the dealer is blowing smoke. Does anyone know is there really was a fender bracket fix?

Default How to verify fender issue Victory Vision

I first read about it in the listed complaints on the NHTSA web site. I have a few quick suggestions:
1. Go to nhtsa.gov and look at the complaints, to see if any of them are about 2013 or 2014 model year.
2. Find a 2012 or 2011 that has been traded in, or one that is for sale, and look at it, take some cell phone pictures. Compare those with the 2013/2014 in the showroom, make the dealer show you the bracket he's talking about.
3. Get the sale all set up, then insist that the dealer put in a signed rider that the issue detailed in the complaints about Victory Vision front fenders has been resolved for your bike, specifically by VIN number, and stating that if there is an issue, the dealer will be responsible for the cost of any repairs not covered by Polaris Industries itself, to include any incidental damage resulting from fender failure as detailed by NHTSA.

If he won't do that, thank him for his time and walk slowly out without signing. Or, find a dealer who will, or take your chances.

The foregoing is based on having bought a 2000, having the transmission literally lock up on me just like the engineering analysis said it would, and Polaris not standing behind their product per the letter they issued to other owners but not to me. Cost me $4000 out of pocket.

Default Checked with NHTSB and part #'s

Thanks for the advice. I did check the complaints on the NHTSB website. 17 complaints logged. Two were 2013's and the rest spread through the other years. Also went and checked the rear fender part number from 08 to 14. The part number was the same for all years. Victory has not changed the fender. Either the dealer or his "source" is trying to BS me. I think I'm going to just step back and re-evaluate my options

The reason there are only 17 complaints is that there are quite a few. Vision riders that bought an aftermarket fender that fixes this issue. A lot of people know that trying to get Polaris to address this issue is an uphill battle that would require time and shear devotion.

For sure your salse men is Blowing Smoke

My 08 the rear part of the fender broke at the bolt hole.
I just looked on Vic web site parts catalog and there is no brace strap nothing.
Some feel the hole was not drilled deep enough so the bolt would bottom out and not tighten.
I do believe that Vic has fixed it cause enough guys have complained about it.

After you come up with price, tell sales men you want free first 500 mile check up and 20% of any add on parts for a year. There are plenty of new vision out there and someone will meet your price.

If you buy a vision you'll be happy
