Default It's not yet time BUT!! SOON

I went from a 83gl1200 to a venture royal (put 89k on that) back to an 06 1800 and that now has over 75K on it and I have been longing to be back in the cruiser position. Although I loved the looks and style of the Venture I was not in love with its handling or braking. Now on the other hand The wing is amazing is that aspect. I have never owned FLT and would not mind an Ultra if you gave me one but...
I think it's the XC with the option to ride w/ or w/o trunk that is pulling me in. Style has my attention and last time I was walking around the dealer his comment to me was "not as smooth as your wing but a very nice ride in deed" To me the wing is like riding a sewing machine. Took some getting used to, checking tach see if it's still on and all. I plan on getting a test ride in before the year is out and I joined here so I can get an advance on the learning curve to see what I can expect if I should make the move.
Thanks and nice to meet ya all.

Test Ride=Bring Checkbook. FWIW the XCT pulled the wife and me off an 08 Wing with 130K and change on the clock. The honeymoon was dismal, but now things are warmed up pretty good.
If you go the XC route, and think you may want trunk, opt for the Tour. More than a trunk and some lowers and the trunk comes off with no tools and a couple of minutes per the folks here. I've ridden with one for so long it is a part of any ride I would be interested in.

Welcome to the mayhem.

2012 XCT, AFR+ Gen 4, Lloydz air filter. I don't equate noise with power.
I ride with the Force.

Thanks

I would def want trunk as this is one thing the wife is asking about. We just came back from a 2 week Canada ride and thinking it would be nice to have a trailer or just a bit more room. I would prefer to just have more room n the trunk for junk. I like hearing from wing converts as to what tipped the scales for them.

Only gripe on the wing was it just never really fit well for me. I could ride without a back ache but had to concentrate on it the whole time.
Pillion was definitely better on the Wing. We got the Corbin, just because it was the only thing out there at the time. Works well but there are others that I think would work better. Momma got her "huggy" backrest, I got shifted forward about 1 1/2 inches and could have gone 2 but oh well.
Heat on the pillion is reduced wit the AFR+Gen 4 to near Wing comfort per pillion.
It is a different animal. Not bad, just different. The XCT takes longer than any other ride I have been on to break in, and is more dramatic. It does what it does well. You'll have to shift more, gets better gas mileage, wind is better IMHO, weather protection not quite as good with a Klockworks Flair but very manageable. Better luggage capacity and a lot more weight allowed.
Best rider I have come across for handling and suspension, and almost everything else.
As always YMMV.

Hey neighbor, Easton CT here. Good to see an active member lives close by. Did you go to Libby for your new ride? I got my first NEW bike there, Virago in 87 and later traded in a VentureRoyal (bought from Rick Ericson in 99) on the 06 wing. That would be the place I would start but not married in to the family. Though Keith treats me as if I was a brother (Makes me sweep and stock shelves). So your a convert too, hmm, look forward to what you guys have to share about your change of heart.
