Default Close to a Victory, Have Questions...

Hi all. My name is Ric, from the Wa. Coast. I am going to purchas a Victory this week, been on bikes for about the last 40 years, most recently a Harley Road King Classic ( hated it) and lately a Kawi Ninja 500 (fun but no room for two, not a good over 100 mile bike) Two bikes on my list that I am lusting after...2010 Vegas 8 ball, 2800 miles passenger seat and pegs. I love the look of this bike but will need a few ad ons to make it a competent two up part time tourer. The riding I do is occasional commuter, part time solo 200 miler (also planning trip to Sturgis next year) and part time two up trips . Next Bike is an 07 Victory Kingpin tour,2200 miles. I like the looks and the bags are great but...I want to know if all the bags and windshield come off and it looks like a regular Kingpin or are there brackets and such hanging on to spoil the naked look, Basically what is under those bags??? Thanks for the advice here, thought i would ask the experts... Ric

The Vegas and Kingpin are the same except for the tins, floorboards, and forks. Seats, lights, controls, etc. are interchangeable.
That said, you WILL need a different seat to do much distance on either one. A Mustang or at a minimum the Kingpin Tour drivers and passenger seat.
Unless your passenger has an iron a$$, they won't make it very far on the stock Vegas passenger seat. The Mustang will be more comfortable but is not compatible with any Vic luggage rack. Oak Creek Cycles makes a nice setup that can be solo or 2-up with the turn of a wrench.

The Kingpin with it's inverted forks, bigger front tire and longer front fender has a slight advantage for distance riding IMO. The short front fender on the Vegas will soak your left foot in the rain.

Many Kingpin riders love to ride their pin naked. The bike, not the rider!

Every day is a good day to ride. Some days are just better than others.

I just got a 2004 Vegas... I agree you will need a better seat. Mine came with a mustang for 2-up riding with back support which was one of my purchasing reasons. The shield is a necessity as well. The bag carrier came with the bike too. I have some bags but like it better without unless going for a long overnite ride.

Not sure on an 07 Kingpin but on my 04 the windshield mounts clamp around the forks and come off completely if so desired. Pretty much the same for the bags. The bags bolt through the fender struts in 2 places and once on the rear footpeg. They come off quickly and leave no signs of ever having been on. You may find that the 2 bolts in the struts are too long after removing the bags so you may need a set of shorter strut bolts without the bags on.
