Default Anyone mod factory Hammer seat for comfort?!

Hey everyone.

I would really like to keep my hammer looking stock, but need more comfort (a LOT more) in the seat to be happy with it. Has anyone gotten theirs reworked and have any advice? My main worry is that the shape of the seat might simply be impossible to overcome to make it comfortable, and I'd rather not waste the money if that's the case. Not looking for a cross country tourer here, just comfort for a couple of hundrer miles (at most).

Would love to hear some opinions and experiences.

Marius , I know you probably want to retain your cowl , but I added the Flamed bandit seat , it is way more comfy and still looks sweet . I have even had complements from other riders on my seat . I can ride all day long in pretty good comfort . I added studs and nuts to it instead of bolts and I can actually swap the seats in about 3 minutes total , if I want to go with the solo and cowl ... Just a suggestion.

I sent my stock seat out to be re shaped.
An outfit called MeanCityCycles.
Definite improvement over the stocker......I had them scoot me a bit closer and add some memory foam.
It's not an earth shattering difference , but better for me.
Turnaround was quick and it didnt break the bank.
Check em out.

ok, thanks for the ideas guys. I acutally happened to get a name of a local seat guy that I will try to go talk to Saturday morning. Supposedly pretty reputable. I definitely need this darn thing reshaped, just adding padding will not do the trick, because ridges cut into my bum and thies over time. Just not pleasant. I think I want it much flatter, so I hope it can be done.

If not, then badit might be it... but

I have such mixed feelings about the badit. I do think it looks great, but LILMAGS500 you're right, I just feel like the cowl is part of the bike that isn't the same without it. I'm probably overthinking this.

Default Just had my seat done

I had the same problem last year after a couple of hours seat was very uncomfortable. Had a gel pad and some memory foam put in and thought if I went that far might as well customize the look and now cant wait till the rain stops and I can get out. It raised the riding position up but that is good I am a big guy.

PjRom,

Did you get the gel insert with memory foam or just memory foam? Are you still able to fit the seat cowl after having it re shaped?

Did you check out the link I posted above? Your only working in the front section of the seat so yes it should all fit back together like stock and the rear cowl should still fit...

What that Lunatic said .... Only the rider portion was worked on....so yes , the stock cowl is in full use no issues.

All said....I'm very happy with the seat mod .... Now that I have put some major butt time in it!!

No gel pad ...just the memory foam, and the seat sort of scalloped a bit...

Had the same problem on my Hammer so I corrected it. I do custom bike seats as part of my business and can tell you the gel pad and reshape is the trick to make this seat comfortable.
