Default No Boardwalk forum

I was going to put this in the Boardwalk forum but there isn't one

I was able to sit on a Boardwalk at my dealer yesterday and was really surprised at how light the bike felt. I was even warned but the saleslady to be careful picking it up because I might fall over the other way expecting the weight of my XR.

Yesterday we also had a lot of wind in the morning blowing me around a bit. Combining how light the bike is with how wide the bars are I just wonder how well it would handle on a breezy day.

Dry weight is 675 lb compared with Hardball dry weight of 758 lb. 80 lbs is nothing to sneeze at, but the Boardwalk is by no means a featherweight. Those wide beach bars provide additional leverage. Try a Judge right after and even though it's 15 lbs lighter, with it's narrow bars I bet it feels a lot heavier.

There is something about the way Victories carry their weight. All Harleys feel to me like they're made of lead when comparing how hard they are to get off their stand compared to Victories. One would think that with engines and frames being so similar there wouldn't be much difference, but there sho nuff is.

My Pin is even lighter and I don't get blown around at all. It does just fine on the interstate and going by the big rigs. It's solid and I'm sure the Boardwalk (KP2) is as well.

Unless it's one of those serious gusts of wind we get around here; no problem on Pin's either.

Sometimes I wish I could weld a Klock Werks XC shield on to the bottom half of the Victory shield on a Pin or maybe XR. Their design gives excellent stability in dirty air like when a big rig is ahead of you. I think it would look cool too.

They must have thought about it. Wonder why they didn't make the replacement plastic for them. Probably due to their contract or something.

Guess I really didn't think about the mechanical advantage of the longer bars. Also the windscreen can act like a sail in a good breeze so maybe a Boardwalk without a windscreen would do better than the XR with one. Comparing how if feels sitting still I like the feel of my XR better than the wide beach bars. I'll be interested to see how it feels on the road.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
