Default Finally observed a windshield up close

Was at a dealer in Fresno and they had the mid height windshield mounted to a Boardwalk. First one I've seen. The shield looks good and the height appears good. Only issue was that one of the inner bolts on the shield (on the frame of the shield in the middle) came in contact with the speedo housing. It looks to me that the mounting brackets on the forks were mounted low but you could move those brackets up. But in my opinion, the shield bolt should not touch the speedo housing either way. I guees the solution is to get the tachometer and then that bolt would not touch either housing.

Have you done any mods or changes to your Boardwalk yet? I test rode one and liked it but was on the fence about the handlebars. I think I would like to try it with some medium ape hangars with a 10" rise. I believe it would feel and look better but that's just my humble opinion.

I put some shorter apes (about 8" rise) on my KP and really liked the feel.

The only thing I've done is mount a tool bag on the rear fender (see my prior post). The stock exhaust sounds real good to me. I also had concerns about the handlebars, but to be honest, I'm use to them now. They actually aren't as wide as normal beach bars and even though I'm short, I don't have any problems with uturns. They do put me at a slightly forward tilt, but that helps with the wind since I'm not sitting straight up and not using a windshield. I also thought about putting on mini apes. The new Arlen Ness modular bars look good. I'm about an hour from Dublin, so I actually sat on a bike (I think a Vegas) with those bars and they felt pretty good. I also thought about putting on the High Ball bars, but they are a little too high and the down position of those bars are too low in my opinion and I want chrome bars. I'm actually thinking of just getting some other victory stock bars, like the stock bars off of a jackpot or older vegas and putting those on my bike. The cables, etc. are so long on my bike that I'm pretty sure I could put on stock other victory bars without having to change anything.

Cool beans. I haven't read much from folks who have bought the new Boardwalk yet but it is still a very new model/style even though the frame and other basics are the same or similar to other models.

I really like the look of the Boardwalk. I wish I could buy the fenders and put them on my KP. I also wish they would have kept the Kingpin name but that's a whole 'nother story.

The thread title had me thinking this might be an "How I saw the windshield UP CLOSE" thread... as in Oops, too much brakes and face plant into shield. Good to see nobody was hurt in this version

Welcome to the world of crappy cruiser windscreens.

Much of the buffeting is wind coming from under the tank. Lowers are the most help. If you have crash bars, you can mount them to those, but there are also fork mounted versions. Vic's stuff is way pricey. You might want to look at Memphis Shades.

Another helpful bit is this if you can stand the aesthetic misery of having a windshield with a wart.

Thanks for the pointers mate, no crash bars yet so i'll look into fork mounted lowers. I'm in Australia so getting stuff like that laminarlip is quite a task but i'll keep it in mind.

Cheers
