Default Kingpin Belt Tension Check

My 2010 Pin measures almost 1 inch slack when cold, manual states 12mm (1/2 in) slack measured half way between the sprockets, heard that when engine is hot belt tightens up so question is should the belt be checked with the engine hot but belt cooled down a bit or check when cold?
Also, what size socket fits on the adjuster nut, none of mine fit.

13mm deep socket is what I use.

You should adjust belt tension with the bike cold and the suspension topped out. The spec is center between the pulleys and 10 lbs of force upward on the belt. You can buy a gauge for that from Vic.

Skooter, is your belt chirping with the extra 1/2" of slack? Just curious. I was told that belt tension or lack thereof may cause belt chirping.
