Default New 09 Kingpin...Good Deal???

My wife is looking to upgrade from her Sportster. She doesn't want a touring bike, but wants something a little more comfortable for longer rides. She loves the looks of the Kingpin w/ a Batwing Fairing. My dealer has a NEW '09 Kingpin Premium. Almost 18K marked down to 15K. The feeling I got from the sales manager is that they would sell for a bit less, They are looking to move this bike.

I know the Premium has all the pretty crome and some kick ass pipes, but I can get a '12 Kingpin Base for the same price. Wife REALLY loves the look of the Premium.

Any thoughts on if this seems like a good deal??? Anything I should know about a '09 vs. '12??

Thanks!!!

Considering it's 3 soon to be 4 years old, no it's not a good deal IMHO. The premium comes with chrome but no pipes to the best of my knowledge. Kelly Blue Book shows its retail value at $11,265, that's what it's worth as soon as you roll it out their door. These dealers with the old model bikes want you to take the hit because they didn't sell it when they should of.

Get back in there and negotiate their pants off. Think about it - they couldn't sell it in 3-4 years... you're their savior. $10k - sell it now, or let it rust on the showroom floor.

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

That's juat it, you can find them with very low miles loaded with goodies the owner dropped a lot of $$$ on for much less than what they're asking.

Thanks guys!! Thats kind of how I was feeling as well. Still to much $$$... I can tell that the Dealer wants to unload this bike BAD, so if they are willing to come down to the 10K range we "might" be in business.

My dealer has been selling Victories about two years. The sales manager said that they had to buy remaining inventory to get started. They put 2 into 1 Victory pipes on it and it hit the floor. Been sitting 2 years...of coarse the were trying to sell it at full retail for at least a year. I've been eye balling it from the begining, but went with my XC. Now the wife loves it...lol

My local dealer still has a beautiful new white pearl '09 Vegas Low with a fairing and stereo. 780 miles. They had it almost two years ago when I bought mine. Still asking $14,999. It continues to sit.

I think this will continue to sit as well as I don't think they will come down enough...although I worked out a great deal on my XC. We shall see, but I'm not holding my breath.

I bought a new 09 KP tour in March of 2011 for $12,999, new list was 18,499. I think I got a good deal, love the bike.

That's the price I was ready to pull the trigger on when an '08 Kingpin Tour showed up for $9995 in Sep. 2010! Got 9200 miles on it now!
