Default Headlight out + Check Engine light on = Bad Regulator/Rectifier

I replaced my headlight once with under 6000 miles. Headlight was out again and Check Engine light came on. Bike seemed to run fine. Service code was "overvoltage", some 18V out of regulator/rectifier.

Just a heads up to 2008 Kingpin owners. Sucks when you're on a road trip and in the middle of nowhere and Check Engine light comes on. Thankfully, the high beam light worked to get me home in the dark after dinner.

Have your regulator/rectifier checked if your headlight has ever gone out.

Uhhh, glad you figured it out. If your battery did not get replaced at this time, keep an eye on it. Overcharging it usually reduces its life drastically, so except it to be going soon.

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
