Default Leather Saddlebag Brackets

I'm getting close to swapping out the stock Kingpin saddlebags for some traditional leather ones and would like some info from others who have done the same.

I'm specifically interested in which support bracket you went with and how it's working out for you. I can't believe the price of a bent piece of metal so I want to make the first choice count.

There are a couple of short brackets available such as the Easy Bracket. I don't need the convenience of being able to remove them but they really don't look solid enough. The larger tubular steel ones available look to be a three-point mounting and go further down which should be more stable.

Just after some feedback on which manufacturer you went with and any changes you'd make if you had to do it all over again.

My thanks in advance.

OK, pretty much decided upon the larger permanent bracket for soft saddlebags. This type

If anyone has a used pair reasonably priced I'd be interested in hearing from you.

Thank you.

That is a good choice. Mine are Willie & Max brackets. I made back plates to attached to the bags so I could mount them low enough. So many people mount the bags even with or higher than the fender and they end up looking like bumble bee wings on the back end.

And thanks Bat Man. I looked at those and thought they might be a little light. You're right about mounting bags too high as well so being able to change the mounting holes is critical.

They look like bigger than usual KP bags? Do you have a side view picture of the bike? Are they as big as, and do they look as good as the XR bags. Looks like they follow the lines of your bike pretty good. I have the KP soft leather lock n ride. I'd like to have bigger that I could put on when going for longer rides.

They are Saddleman large teardrop bags. Yes they are larger than the Victory semi soft bags, but not as big as the XR bags. Viking Bags make one exactly like it at a little better price.

Cool

nice bags batman! the profile matches well. i bought preowned OE bags for my 13 hammer with easy brackets, a great setup for easy install or removal. i usually ride without but 10 minutes + they are on. looks like luggage spools when removed, barely there!!
