Default K&N/ Victory airbox issue

I just picked up an 04 Kingpin with the big bore kit and stage 1 exhaust and air filter. The bike is in pretty damn good shape for its age. Since it's "new to me", I figured I'd do a thorough maintenance once over. The bike came with the K&N Victory air box with filter. I removed the box so I can clean the throttle bodies and air filter. The issue I'm having is separating the filter from the air box. The 4-10mm nuts holding the filter in place just want to spin and not loosen. Anyone run into this and suggest a solution for separating the two?

did you feel to see if there is a nut on the back side of the bolts
if there is no nuts and bolts spin am guessing your going to have to drive the heads off the bolts. What number are you having trouble with
Make sure no shavings get into the FI's

So they were overtightened in the past and now the nut is spinning in the plastic ...

You can't take it off without cutting the filter ....

Orrrrr how is the airbox attached to the throttle body ? Can't see that on the picture ....

If you can open the 4 bolts on the box trough the throttle body then you are safe to remove BOTH filter & box ... That's why i see 4 holes in the plastic box on top ??

I removed the airbox. I'll get the bolts cut off with my grinder then modify the box for new bolts.

Take a drill and use a drill bit to drill off the "head" of the bolt.
Once on heads are off pull cover and now you can get at the rest of bolt to unscrew it

For the record, That's not a stage 1 airbox. That's a Ness Big Sucker intake. Ness Arlen Ness Enterprises may have replacement parts for that.
