Default Fork Oil Replacement

I'm looking to replace my fork oil in my 07 KP. I've read here and other forums and my questions are pretty simple, I think.

I currently have 35k on the bike and the fork seals are not leaking so I'm going to opt for replacing the oil and not the seals. Mainly because I don't want to invest $150 in the kit right now.

Watching WitchDoctors video it appears to me that I could drain the forks by pulling the allen plug and cycling the fork up and down. I don't really even see the need to pull the guts out if I'm not replacing the seals...

Heck, I'm not sure I see a need to pull the forks off the bike if I have it on a jack... Am I missing something here?? I figure the worst case scenario I have to replace the seals later and I'm out $15-$20 for fork oil...

Your 2 cents please...

What is in the $150 kit? I bought seals for my Kingpin online for like $30 a couple years ago. Then I just pulled the forks and disassembled them. It had around 35000 on it and the inside of the forks had a some dirty oil in them and a little sludge . I cleaned them out and put new seals and oil in em and reassembled. I did make a seal driver, but you could probably us a short piece of the appropriate size plastic tubing as well.

I cant find the tread now ... but if you search then there are some real good info .... even you can just strip the forks, take the seals to a bearing shop that sells Millimeter SKF seals / C-clips etc, then you have the forks back for a few dollars ....

pull forks off bike. Do Not do any bouncing of folks on the jack.
Now do the bottom drain plug first. After that take the top fork cap off. Careful its spring loaded and the cap will shoot across the room.
Now put fork in drain bucket and pull the spring. Once spring is oil fork oil will drain faster.
When you go to put it back together drop in damper rod and then spring. Put fork cap on not very tigh. Now you might need a long screwdriver to align the damper rod before putting in bottom screw. Get it thigh. Now take fork cap off and pour in fork oil. Put cap on. If you can get it tight you can tighten after you lock it down in triple tree. Get wheel brakes fender all in place. Now start tightening all bolts.

Spend the money and do fork seals
