Default good find!! mate

i put a second disc on my 13 hammer @ 2200 miles + the single complete leg cost more!!! seems the single disc bikes use slightly bigger pistons as i got takeoff parts from conquest customs at decent prices, the master from a dual disc vic worked well. i am 165# + never bottomed the USD forks in my 13 hammer + find the ride + control good, but i surely dont ride like you. i used a pair of lighter EBC discs, as the Vic discs are more costly as well. pics in the bucket but thats sheet now$$$. e-bay is great for bargains or just better prices with shipping usually included in the USA. your bike goes better + it will stop better as well!!

Thanks mate, Bargain of the century!
The extra brake is down the line a ways.
For now I'm concerned that the part numbers for the front axles Kingpin/Vegas are different.
Though I've found in Vic different numbers don't necessarily mean a different part, let's hope I'm right.
I know the front blinkers are made to fit my skinnier tubes and hopefully will stretch out to fit around the bigger tubes. cos they'd look dicky mounted to my Burleigh Bars.
Till my front fender arrives and I repair and paint it I'm not gonna be pulling the Vegas front down anyway.
After all my downtime from the dog and then the rebuild, the less downtime the better
Anyone shine any light on those axles?
They list Vegas axle 5137091
Pin Marzocchi. 5133593
Pin Kayaba. 5137092

Yeah guess I'll find out when I next pull the front axle.
Vic's seem to have a good uniformity of parts even if numbers suggest otherwise at times.
Waiting for my bent fender complete with airbrushed screaming chicken on the front.
Once I've straightened it and I have an idea I'll ridge it down the middle like a Vegas item, by tack welding a length of thick steel wire over the centre then filling up to it..... Maybe..... Not set in stone.

Other options when I can score a damaged Hammer fender cheap are to change style of front end with it.
Though the practicality of not getting mud and stones on the front of my Vegas has been long overdue.

Got a damaged fender complete with airbrushed eagle and stars n stripes and skulls....beaten most of damage out, time for trial fit up...

ARRRGH!!!
The front axle is different, no way will it interchange...
I'm gonna need a Kingpin front axle and nut....
Gonna need to do an eBay USA search unless any of you have one laying around.
May be same as an XC?
Currently I'm running an XC front wheel so axle shaft diameters the same..
Kingpin
The lhs leg, axle entry hole has a thread.
The rest has a plain hole that the Vegas 'nut' would be a very close fit into.
Part NOS list same for the nut on both models but axle part number is different.
At risk of being accused of double posting I'm gonna copy n paste this into my relevant thread too, to hopefully find someone who's struck this or has a spare axle.
Bikes now off jack and gonna tighten axle back up....

A few pix to illustrate

What front end did you get. The Kayaba has 2 pinch bolts on right hand fork or the Marzocchi has 2 pinch bolts on each forks.
Actually @visionjohnny looking at it today there's only actually 2 pinch bolts, I looked at the instructions not the parts!
So that makes them Kayaba then?

On my USD hammer forks only 2 pinch bolts on the right hand fork, left hand fork NO pinch bolts...

What's the difference between the 2 brands anyway....

According to VJ the pinch bolts are how you tell.
Kayaba sounds Japanese and
Marzocchi Italian, one would expect Italian forks to be better I reckon.
But the Japs have come a long way.
Currently tearing my hair out over an electrical problem making my headlight go out and check engine light comes on.
