Default Demo Ride Opinion - Vision, Hammer, Cross Country, & Crossroads

Test rode several Victory's at local shop's demo days and both days were around 95 degrees. Vison with lower wind deflectors was first ride, so many buttons. Vison without lower wind deflectors cooked my ankles and no highway pegs to cool off. Hammer just didn't corner like a Kingpin with wide rear tire. Next day, Cross Country with low windshield, didn't like wind in my face. Cross Country Tour with Klock Works windshield, much nicer wind out of the face, but loud Stage I mufflers and hard lowers cooked my feet. Crossroads Classic was last and favorite ride, cornered and felt like a Kingpin.

It helped to ride the other Victory bikes and experience all their "bells and whistles". I came out of the experience appreciating my Kingpin Tour just a little more. I retraced the demo ride route and felt at home on my Kingpin. I recently rode my Kingpin around Lake Superior. Loaded up the trunk and saddlebags with all I needed for two up riding and camping. Cross Country Tour riders doing the same needed an extra bag strapped on top of a saddlebag (40gallons + extra bag!).

Any others leaning to trade off their Kingpins or have you found the Kingpin to be your favorite Victory?

I went to a Demo ride this year too. I came away wanting a Cross Country even more than I did before. I like my KP, but the XC will be mine, eventually.

Time your Cross Country purchase to coincide with another demo day for the $1000 off coupon. Used one on my Kingpin purchase three years ago. Put a lot of accessories on for the $1000. The coupon doesn't affect their financing offers either. Appreciate the 2.49% on my loan.

I went to a demo ride a couple of years ago. I rode about 5 different bikes. I loved the Vision. If I had the money I would own one. Other than the Vision, I did not ride anything that I liked any better than my KP. Not even a 2011 KP. That is when I decided to put some money into my bike. After I had the engine built, I liked it even more. If I were to someday get a Vision, I would still keep the KP. It is a great bike...period!

My only fear of the Vision is the ability to get air on hot days. The XCT seemed to have various vents that blew fresh air on me from several directions. I've seen stick on air deflectors for the Vision, just don't know if they'd be as effective.

Too bad they don't make the XR anymore. It has a better seat and more ground clearance. The KP is peppier though.

A ride on the KP is what finally won me over to Victory. It broke my heart when they killed it.

Being a Cross Roads owner you'll get no argument from me.

I don't care to have tunes while I ride and am not a fan of fork mounted fairings so the XR was the clear choice for me when I looked at the X bikes. I think you get better handling on the XR and I love being able to remove the windshield in the summer. It's almost like having two bikes in one. No issues with heat management either.

My demo day was a cool day that required slightly more than a light jacket. I honestly have no knowledge of how a Vision deals with heat issues. It would really be a shame if that was it's Achilles Heel.

I've never been on a demo ride. I've never rode any other bike aside from the Honda Shadow I traded in. Do they give you any pressure to buy, let loose on you with sales tactics, ask you to fill out a credit app before taking a ride? How do these things work? I'd be interested if I could show up, ride a bike or two then slip away. I'm not interested in buying any other bike. The '12 Kingpin was my ultimate dream bike and now I have it but I'm still curious how it compares to the others.

Nope. The demo rides I've been on are usually conducted by regular customers of the dealer. The Vic person taking the info is usually the truck driver. No one tries to sell anything unless you go inside the dealership and start up a conversation with a salesman.

On the last demo I was on, I was indiscriminately teaching the salesmen.

Easy as pie.

Most bikes today are very good. Even the Vics I don't particularly care for are probably more capable than most of their owners. That said, you hit the lottery with your pick.

I have a riding buddy who has a Cross Roads Classic in his garage that bought last spring and is selling it, he rides an HD most of the time. I think it is a 2010 and I believe he only wants somewhere near $10k so for it. Hardly ever been ridden!

For me so far, the demo rides are great and then when I'm done and riding home on my KP I feel so comfortable. But, I think I'd trade for a Vision in a second if I had the $ for it.

2008 Victory Kingpin Tour - traded
