Default Bags and Easy/Edge Brackets

Has anyone ever used the Victory hardbags (or any other hardbags, for that matter) with the Easy or Edge Brackets (www.edgeleather.com)? I'd like some quick attach bags - because I love the look without them - but at times need the space for traveling.

I know they're fine with virtually any leather bag out there...I'm just considering my options. I'm guessing to do this with hardbags, may require some fabrication to get enough support under the bag for the weight.

I have a 2008 Kingpin 8-ball.

Well, in doing a little more digging...I found a post on VOG and also found these bags from Tsukayu. So, there are options out there...just have to decide which way to go.

Default RE: Ghost Brackets

JM,

I have Edge Bags and Ghost brackets on my bike. I am not a real big fan of the hard bag looks, so this is why I went the way I did. There are quite an assortment of Edge Bags that can be used with the Ghost Brackets.

My bike is on the Show off your Kingpin thread page 7. I did the mounting myself and it is relatively easy to do. The bags come off in a minute and all that is left is fender struts mounting hardware that is barely noticeable. You could do this with a leather look bag like mine or a hard bag look like the link you supplied. Check out the Edge bag site or eBay.

Good Luck.

Thanks! Nice bike! Here's my KP before the last round of changes: https://www.victoryforums.com/album.php?albumid=80

I do like some of the Edge bags...and was strongly leaning that way. Glad to hear you like yours.

Due to a kayaking accident (my kayak fell on my rear fender!), I've moved the tag to side mount...and since the fender had to be repaired anyway, I had them fill in the holes to give it a smooth clean line. Unfortunately, that now means some additional fabrication to add some support to the Victory luggage rack, but still worth it!

I also just realized that since the tag frame has been moved, that limits me slightly as to the size bags I can use. It's about 11 inches from the ghost/edge bracket bolt to the top of the frame. I can spin the frame down a little and get a little more clearance, but still don't have a lot of room.

I know part of the bag will be above the bolt, but just so I can get a frame of reference...how far down to the bottom of your bag from the bolt?

Thanks again!

Default RE: Edge Brackets formally Ghost Brackets

The Edge bracket mount points are the fender strut bolts. Yours are black (8 ball) mine are chrome. Should have absolutely nothing to do with your LP bracket mounting. I have some updates to my bike that I need to post anyway. Tonight I will post the latest bike pics with and without bags. I will also take pics of the back of the bags where the Edge Brackets are mounted. This should give you a good idea what you are looking at.

Because I replaced my LP bracket and moved it to the axle bolt (no longer on the fender), I'm worried that any bags might touch/rub the top of that LP bracket on that side. And that it might limit the size of the bags I could mount.

Here's the license bracket: http://www.pinedasmetalcustomdesigns...s/show/2553199

Default RE: LP Bracket

My bags are pretty big and I don't think you would have a problem with them. I can measure my bag heght if that would help. That combined with the mounting of the brackets should give you all the info you would need.

Default RE: Edge Bags

My bags are @13 inches tall and 20 inches long. Here are pictures of where they mount on the bike and how the bracket mounts to the bag.

The link is pictures of the bike in its current state with and without the bags. If you are interested. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pics. I'm leaning either toward the Edge or Viking bags...got to collect some more funds, first...currently accepting donations!
