Harlow,
The milage is not that bad. There are folks with 100K on their bikes. My opinion of a fair price for the bike would be in the neighborhood of $4500-5500. My only advice is to make sure the bike you are buying has most of the accessories you want. You pay pennies on the dollar for them if they are already on the bike.
Hope this helps,
Rob

Based on the price of a new KP, 5500 to 6500 seems like a great deal on a great bike.

Just to give you an idea of an average price. I bought my bike in January. It had 7300 miles on it, in perfect shape, no scratches and had a upgraded exhaust and K&N air filter.

I paid 8500.00 Not including taxes and financing over 4 years which then make it 11700.00
Granted the bike I bought was an Arlen Ness edition and they only made 250 of them. Bike was one owner.

I live in Texas so there is year round riding so the prices never really drop and getting a end of season sale is almost non existent

2005 Ness Kingpin...7344 miles
Purple Haze custom paint job (vicitory orig)
Ness chrome parts everywhere
RPW upswept exhaust
Kuryakyn mirrors
S&S air intake with stage 2 mapping

From what I have seen, $4500-$5500 would be a smoking good deal on a Kingpin. More in the ball park would be like $5500 to $7500. I have seen a couple go for about $5000. That being said, I was talking to the dealer last week about trading my Kingpin in on a Vision. He looked it up and said the ballpark trade in for an '05 Kingpin would be around $5400.That was without looking at my bike. Obviously, dealers don't give top dollar, as they need to make a buck on the deal.
Like has been pointed out, it depends on what accessories and options. And definitely try to find one that has most of the goodies you want, already on it. That stuff is expensive when bought piece by piece.

This market isn't pulling the numbers they would have in the past. I had a friend who picked up an bone stock '04 3 years ago with 2,700 miles on it for $5K, and last year another friend grabbed an '05 with 6,000 miles, stage 1, hwy bars, iso grips, a windshield, and chrome front and rear fender trim for $6,300. A few months later he got tight on cash and sold it for $5K with 13K miles on it. There are some great deals out there, just look for them.

Blue book on a 2004 KP is ~$6600. I paid $5999 for mine with 33k miles on it. It had goodies already on it, such as Ness lay down license plate, chrome swingarm, stage 1 exhaust with vented airbox, ISO grips, passenger floorboards, etc.
