Default Military Decal Plate

Hey guys, I need some advice. I purchased a military decal plate to put my decals on for base access. Unfortunately, I am at one of those bases that require it even though I am on an Air Force base. I picked up one of these:

It is a generic plate that can go pretty much anywhere. It will not work on my caliper and it seems like it will not fit correctly on the down tube under the horn. I had to install it on the inside front fender where it bolts to the fork. It does look pretty tacky but I cant seem to find anywhere else to place it on the bike that is on the front side.

I will take a photo tomorrow if anyone wants to see what I am talking about. There is plenty of clearance from the rim/tire. I did a search on Google and I searched around the forum here and could not find what I was looking for.

I went by our local Aircraft Intermediate repair shop and found a piece of scrap aircraft grade aluminum big enough to hold the stickers. Since I have the round engine guards I just bought 2 metal electrical conduit straps with the rubber guards and attached it to the guard.

Well what we did was take a magnetic sheet from a craft store. Put the sticker on it. Easily removable and they wont even know.
You said your on an air force base right?
Headover to C.E. Look for the structures shop. The shouldnbe willing to give you a hand in making something. Might cost you amfew beers but well worth it. If not ask them would the h v a c shop have anything. That who squadron will have everything at your disposal. Just be nice and be willing to scratch their back trust me lol

C.E utilities for awhile. Lol good luck let me know what you find out

Get a 2.5" T-Bolt clamp and a strip of rubber (inner tube or elec tape works too) to protect your bike. Put the rubber around your upper fork tubes, install the clamp on top of the rubber, and bolt the tag plate to the clamp.

Drive in the gate, show them your CAC, point to your MSF card and the plate then head to work. Doubt they'll give you crap because this was the way bike riders used to have to attach there stickers.

Here is a photo of it installed. I thought it looked tacky but it doesnt look bad at all. I went out on a test ride today to try out my GoPro Hero2 chest strap and came out pretty good. I was worried that it may come unbolted or it might shift around but it seems to be fine right there. I do regular checks on my bike so I will be checking to make sure this plate doesnt come loose on me.

Try turning it sideways and see if it works like a card in bike spokes!

It looks good and as long as it stays in place and keeps the base cops happy stick with it.

I'll be sure to try that!!

I had to drill the hole just a tiny bit to fit the bolt through it. I am pretty confident security forces will not care nor will the gate guards. It is pretty noticeable when you pull up. I am pretty sure the gate guards will stare at my wheels. They did the last couple times I came through with my bike on temp tags.
