Default Just Installed D&D Slip ons

After much debate with myself I finally ordered D&D Boss Slip Ons for my 2008 Vegas. Only sound bite I could find was Kingpin Dyno Run on You Tube. I don't think any video can do these pipes justice. I couldn't take the quiet anymore especially when my HD buddy asked, is that thing running? (His Reinharts sound great.) So I ordered D&D's a week ago and installed them yesterday. Had to drill the exhaust support for top muffler as hole was off about 3/16". No big deal. I rode the bike about 60 miles in 40 degre weather smiling all the time. Bike is so much more fun to ride now, has great Attitude. Great quality pipes, Great sound, and great support team at D&D. IMHO if you want a quality slip on that looks similar to stock pipes I highly recommend the 560-12 slipons. Stock air box,
02's already unplugged, and bike ran well. Considering stage one download or probably more likely S&S intake with map as money shows up. Can't wait to ride with HD buddy again with new pipes!
Ride Safe.

Wow! Those pipes do look nice and really close to the stock pipe. My wife would like new pipes on her Vegas but likes the looks of the stock pipes. These would be perfect. Mind if I ask what they set you back? Also, the bike does run fine with the pipes and no tuning? I had always been told you had to run a Stage 1 upgrade if you do anything to the pipes. I think the performance of the bike is perfect for what I need. Just want some noise.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott this may take awhile. Bought them from Starcycle USA. They retail for $513 but are on their website for $462. You can bid on them on ebay. I dealt with Chris at 800-990-2453 and paid $432.
including shipping to my door. Said could take two weeks took one.
The bike does pop some but all aftermarket exhausts will pop per Kevinx. I can make the bike pop more or less depending on how I use the throtle. I am considering getting Llodz (IAV) Idle Air Control Valve for closed loop fuel systems as it is suppose to eliminate most of the popping ($77). I also had already unhooked my 02 sensors as it is suppose to make the bike run less lean and run cooler. AS for needing a map I posted a question in The Tech and Performance section on 1-31-2012 under D&D and S&S ????
Rylan Vos (Vicbuilder) The Vic Shop was kind enough to post a response to give me some options. He is much more knowledgable
than I am. I said I wanted more noise and more performance without a tuner or any internal mods. Rylan explained what a stage 1 or an S&S intake with map would do for the bike. As I understand it if you do not mess with the air filter or intake you do not need a map at least that is what D&D says on their website. I called D&D and spoke to Leonard their tech guy three times with questions before I bought these pipes. Leonard told me the pipes were tested and dynod on a bike with stock air box and no map or tuner. You can
reach him at 817-834-8961 with any questions you may have. I am considering doing an S&S intake and map in the near future not only for performance gains but also and mainly for the clean look. As I said I am no expert but I am very happy with the D&D's and would definately buy them again. Hope this helped answer some of your questions. Good Luck.

Thank you for the info. That does help. I haven't been on the board for a long time. I guess if I would do some searches I could probably find everything I need. I already have the Victory Performance Air Filter (and I have an extra is anyone is interested in purchasing it ) but nothing else. So that sounds like I might need a map if I change the exhaust. Now the wife is changing her mind, or maybe it's the fact that we have a 9 month old. I'll keep working on her and maybe give D&D a call if I decide to go this route. The pipes do look good on the bike.

The other route I was thinking about a year or so ago was having Bob at Super Flow Mufflers rework mine so I still have the stock pipes but more sound. That is definitely the cheaper option (maybe $250). Anyone had this done? He told me he could do it, but on his website he only talks about CC and Vision exhaust.

Thanks.

Thank you for posting this RST. I have a call in to D&D as we speak to see if their '10 models will fit my '12, in black of course. This is a nice lower cost solution compared to what I was looking at before.

King you are welcome. I couldn't find much info on D&D's when I was looking. I sent a PM to one other forum member who had D&D's and he was very helpful. Glad this may be of some help to others. I found in speaking to D&D Leonard is the man to talk too. Good luck.

Swalker thanks for the compliment on the pipes. I also like the stock look and love the sound. You are right about searching the forum for information there is a lot here.
You may want to start a new thread to find answers about the pipes you are asking about. Good luck in your search.

Default Pipes in Maine

Hey RST,

I rode my 09 busa to Maine a couple of summers ago with a Brock's Alien Head Pipe (I did NOT make it to Madawaska though, so I'm shy 1 USA corner)

Anyways, I kept hearing a bunch of BS about the state of Maine cracking down on after market pipes?

When I was there, it was warnings about giving warnings.

Is it dead and gone 'forever'?
