Default First Bike - 09' 8Ball

Just thought i'd make a quick post to say hi, and say that i'm picking up my 09' 8Ball on Tuesday. This will be my first bike i've ever owned. Just got my motorcycle endorsement two weeks ago, and my wife encouraged me to buy the Victory right away. I've wanted one for a few years, and as soon as I got the endorsement she told me to get the bike. Couldn't ask for a cooler wife.

So, i've been riding my brother-in-law's Harley Sportster 883 for two weeks now and i'm absolutely dying to pick up the Victory. I'm almost a little nervous to see just how powerful this bike is. Ok, nervous may not be the right word... just excited. Just curious to see how touchy the throttle is compated to that 883.

Anyway, i'm starting to ramble now. Again, just saying hi and I'm excited to be a part of the Victory family now. Can't wait to see you all on the roads!

It will have more power but keep in mind, it's up to the diver as to how much power you put down. Don't bury the throttle and it's just as civil as a 50cc.

That's what I pretty much figured. I'm not expecting that Victory has made a bike where if you barely roll onto the throttle you're going to fly off the back of the bike. I'm expecting they aren't that stupid. =)

All I know is in about 24 hours i'm picking the bike up and tomorrow is going to be the longest work day of my life.

I hear ya, I had to wait 6 days for mine to ship to me, it was agonizing!

The hardest part has been not telling my best friend about it. He actually wants the exact same bike but won't be buying his until next fall. I haven't told him yet so I can just show up at his house with it, toss him the keys and tell him to take it for a spin. He's going to be jealous, but I think it will ease the sting a little bit if I do it that way. =)

Kden,
I'm excited for you and know how you feel. I remember waiting to pick up my bike. I felt like a kid waiting for christmas. I guarantee that you will have perma-grin on your face when you drive it home!! Just don't rub it into your buddy's face too much.

Had my bike for 3 days now and I really love it. The one thing I noticed is when I roll off the throttle in first gear there is a really slight knock coming from behind me. It's not when i'm shifting gears, just when i'm rolling off the throttle. Can't quite figure out what it's from. I didn't notice it until the bike had about 150 miles on it. Certain it wasn't doing it when I first picked it up. It's not coming from the shift lever, but really sounds like it's from behind and to my right. Also doesn't sound like the exhaust missing or popping, it's a very distinct knocking sound like something is hitting. Any ideas on that?

Kden,
Don't know what to tell you but if it's me I'm driving my butt back to the dealer right away. Let them take it out for a ride to hear it. Make sure you get it fixed or alert them in case it gets worse so it is covered under the warranty.
