Default 6 speed tranny

Hi guys! What was the first year that had a 6 speed tranny for the vegas 8 ball?

I don't think I'd hardly ever use it. People kill you on the slab. The way mine is geared, seems like I'd have to be at 70 before I could use 6th.

Dill you are correct... I don't use 6th till 75. I like to keep my engine revving around 3000rpm. At 3000rpm in 5th I am doing 70mph.

Thanks guys! I'm looking to pick up one in the near future, and I do a lot of interstate driving. 75-80 mph. Will a 5 speed be ok?

Sure, but IMO, a 6 speed would be good to have if you're doing slab running a lot.

You don't need to be running the slab to be in 6th gear. You can do 60mph in 6th

Too much vibration in 5th gear at 60-65 on long distances.

6-speed is nice to have.

I agree on the vibration. Pretty sure 6 is perfect for highway travel.
