Default idle adjustment 2007 vegas

I finally received my 2007 Vegas that I bought off ebay from California. The bike arrived Nov. 5th. I live in PA and the weather has been unusually warm for this time of year. In the lower seventies last weekend. I was able to put about 200 miles on the bike so far. It runs great but seems to idle low. The decal on the frame says idle should be 900 to 1000 but the tach reads 600 to 700. It seems to come up a little in town with stop and go traffic like maybe the engine is warming up a little more. Is there an idle adjustment or is it computer controlled?

I have an 09 vegas, i don't know if your set up is the same , as vic went to a closed loop fuel injection sys in 08, however, look on rt side as your sitting on the bike behind the v wedge you can see the throttle body when you twist your throttle you can see the direction it rotates [ clockwise] there is a screw if you turn it in clockwise it should increase your rpm, i don't know if this the intended factory method or not but it should do the trick.

On the 07 and older Vics you need to clean the throttle bodys about every 5000 miles or so. The first symtom that it needs to be cleaned is low idle. Take off the tank and the top of the air intake box. Clean the film from the inside of the throttle body down to and around the butter flys. Inless it is real bad it won't look very dirty just an oily film. But it does make a big diff. Clean it put it back together and the idle will come back up with out adjustment. If the ldle has been run up with out a cleaning you might have to bring it back down.

thanks BET for the heads up re cleaning the throttle body, hopefully 500 duster will read,

hey 500 duster, another thing whenever you take your bike in for any type of adjustment, be sure to mention that it was a california bike, we have very restrictive emission controls / regulations that will not apply in your state, and your dlr can re map to get you a better running pony.

Thanks guys. I'll take the tank off and clean the throttle bodies today. I ordered an owners manual from the closest dealer last week for a 2007 model. I picked the manual up yesterday and it was for a 2009. When I mentioned the year was wrong the parts guy told me they were all the same. I knew they had made some chanes to the fuel injection but wasn't sure what year they did. Bike only has 2200 miles on it but it's been sitting for awhile so I'm sure cleaning will help. I'd like to get a repair manual for the 2007 model. Is this a dealer item?

What I have now is just the 2009 owner's manual. The same that should have come with your bike when new. I ordered owners manual for 2007 model year but received 2009 model year. The cost was $24 I would like to get an actual repair manual like a shop manual that goes into more detail on repairs and maintenance. I did clean the throttle bodies today and now the bike idles great. seems more responsive on acceleration too. Thanks again for all the help.
