Default What's fair market value for this bike? Dealing with insurance.

So unfortunately I went down last week and the bike is pretty banged up. Pretty good chance it will end up being junked but still waiting to hear back from insurance. My question is what is the fair market value for this bike? So I can get an idea of what number I should be trying to get from my insurance. It's a 2014 Vegas 8 ball w/ 14k miles. Additional dealer equipment was the stage 1 kit and passenger seat and pegs. Been trying to research but the numbers are all over the place and I'm seeing retail values from $5500 to 8K.

That's like asking how high is up? Vehicle value depends on many things, starting with your location. You might want to get a shop estimate to repair it, that will tell you and the claims adjuster is its a total or not.

www.kkb.com and New Car Prices and Used Car Book Values - NADAguides will get you close to what the insurance company thinks it's 'worth'. Be sure to use your zip code as well. Understand that unless you have additional accessories coverage, anything you added to the bike has an actual value of $0.00. As has been suggested, if you have the bike, post a few pictures. But in reality, if the frame is bent or can even possibly be bent, most states will automatically total it. Also, in many cases if the repair costs are 50% of the actual value, it may be totaled. So, what's it 'worth' according to the insurance company? Be prepared to hear something between Trade In and Low Retail then be ready to negotiate from their.

Much more importantly, are you OK?

Yeah I came away with bumps and bruises but overall ok. It was a low speed slide hit a slick spot in some rain and bike fish tailed away from me. What sucks is that after sliding a bit the bike went into the mud in the median and caused it to flip so it took damage to both sides. Pretty sure the bike is going to get totaled out. Front end is pretty screwed up (shop thinks i'll need new forks), tank as well, front wheel is bent. Parts to replace that alone is around 3-4K. Add to that the stage 1 option, my custom bars, saddlebags, and other additional stuff (thankfully I had the additional coverage) and repair will cost about as much as the bike.

Ive been checking NADA and KBB but thats where i get confused. KBB places it at 5700 trade in, but shows retail at 8k, Nada says low retail 5k, average 6600. Texas presumptive value comes in at 6100, so values are all over the place. Looking around online I see them listed at 7-8k so Im hoping to push them above 6K (plus my additional equipment) if they do end up paying it out, but wanted to see if I have the right figure in mind or if Im just over valuing my bike.

Do not be in a rush to settle, take your time. Claims agents are under pressure to settle fast and low cuz more claims are coming in. You'll get a better settlement dragging your feet. It's worked for me.
