Default 5K mile inspection coming up...

About how much should I expect to pay? I believe there are no problems at all, but I'm not an expert. If it's just a routine inspection, per owner's manual, will it be >$250 ?

Well, decided to take it into the shop for the inspection. Wanted to support the local guys and start to form a relationship with them. Price was right too.

The services are very easy to do but if you don't feel comfortable doing it then you did the right thing. Peace of mind is priceless.

I would let the shop where i bought my 8-ball service me, but its like 2 and 1/2 hours away... I can change the oil in half the time it would take me to get to the shop.

Why do we buy a brand new bike for 20 thousand and then after putting 5000 miles have to bring it back to them and pay 250 bucks to check it over.
Why doesn't victory make a good motorcycle. Shouldn't they pay us to check the bike over to see it was built correct.
If you read the owners manual witch most do not you;ll see they check the drive belt for what it stretch's a 1/8" and thats it. Yes they check the clutch to see you haven't over used it and put to much slop in the cable along with the throttle cables. There are no bolts to re torque so your spending 250 bucks for a oil change. What a screw job. For years hd told all riders to change oil at 3000 miles so the smart ones did it at 2500 why wait and in those days oil was a poor grade and the motors were not that good. I do think Polaris entered into the motorcycle world not knowing much and going by what unfamiliar engineers told them. Why would your replace a belt at 25000 when you should get a 100000 out of it or why should you replace fork oil or brake fluid at such low mileage.
Is it the only way that can get us to bring our bikes into to dealer and spend money. Maybe if they had good designed T shirts and assessors we would come in and spend money.

I'm sorry I went off track I just get a little upset with them screwing me.

How are they screwing you it sounds like you're screwing yourself. Don't bring it to the dealer do it yourself, geez that was easy problem solved. That will be $125.
I'm joking really but it will be a cold day in hell before I spend $250 for an oil change. Something so easy.

I agree with the DIY crowd, but not all are mechanically inclined and or too lazy to learn. That being said, i for one am all for supporting VIC shops so they stay in business and are available when really needed for big things other than easy maintenance. Needless to say Oil changes will be something i do along with lubing the clutch cable
