Default Tire Question

I have an 04 Vegas ANSS. Time to change the front tire. I had a mechanic who works mostly on Jap bikes say "you can go to the next larger tire on the front". Has anyone ever gone to a larger size? If so what size did you use and what is your opinion? Thanks

What size is it now? 21" 90/90?

People go up one size on a lot of bikes. How does the clearance look to you? Bear in mine the difference between a 90 and a 100 width is only a centimeter on paper but might be more on the tire itself. If possible; measure the tire you want to mount and check to see if you have clearance for the tire under and beside the fender. Bear in mind; most tires will grow taller at highway speed.

Thanks to both of you for the response, Yes I am going up from an 80/90 21 to a 90/90 21 and will probably go with the Dunlop Elite 3, unless someone convinces me otherwise.
