Default About to buy a Victory this weekend. Tips? Prices? Recommendations?

Hi all,

Just joined the forum.

I currently own a sportbike, but have passed the 30 year mark, so I think it's time for a cruiser. That, and oh, the sportbike is comfortable for a grand total of about 30 minutes.

I've looked around at many different brands, (including the Raider S and the new Honda Fury - both of which are nice, but don't really have the "it" factor for me). I'm really sold on the Vegas. I LOVE the styling, and am a huge fan of the 100ci motor.

Since Victory is currently running a financing special on the previous model years, I don't think I'm going to purchase a 2009. The dealerships in my area have a decent supply of new 2007 and 2008 models. What would be a really good price for a 2007 standard Vegas? 2008? What about the 2007 8-ball? 2008?

I'd prefer a standard Vegas, as I like having the 6th gear, passenger seat, and angled headlight. Moreover, it will be getting a custom paint job immediately after I purchase it, and I think the aluminum and chrome look better than the black on the 8-ball. That said, if it means saving a few grand, I could deal with the blacked-out 8-ball.

As an example, would I be way off base to expect a 2007 8-ball for mid 10K?

First of all, I am the proud owner of an '07 8 ball and love it. I agree that the Vegas has the "it" factor. I actually prefer the blacked out look and that's what drew me towards the 8-ball model. I was a little nervous about the 5 speed but have no complaints for the type of driving that I do. If you are a highway driver or a speed demon you may want to consider the 6 speed. I too am a little over 30 and sold my CBR for a Victory because of the comfort factor. I felt it was time to grow up a bit and slow down so the 5 speed is just fine for me. You can also buy an overdrive pulley that drops the RPM's down if that is a deal breaker for you.
The way I see it, the consumer has all the power in this economy. Victory is running some outstanding deals right now with the '09 8 ball at $12,999 and 5 year waranty. I certainly don't think you would be out of line asking mid $10k for the '07 8 ball. I honestly haven't really priced out the standard vegas so I'm not much help on that front. If I had to take a guess I think you could probably knock off $1K per year and maybe a little more with the standard vegas since they are more $$.

Believe it or not, most of the dealers in my area are sold out of previous year model 8-balls. I found one, but it was priced at 11,700. That was supposedly after taking all incentives, financing, and rebates. Needless to say, I have no interest in buying it at all.

However, I called another dealer, and he has a brand new 2007 Vegas standard priced at $12,500. The more I think about it, I'd much prefer the standard Vegas. The extra gear, passenger seat, and angled headlight make a big difference. (all upgrades that I would be making in the event I bought an 8-ball). Simply stated, I would have to get a ridiculous deal on an 8-ball to consider it over the standard.

This is the deal I have in mind:

Listed price on the 07 Vegas: $12,500

Drop the price to 12K out the door (tax, title, license)
Throw in a slash cut exhaust
Give me $4500 trade-in on my bike
Finance $7500 @ 4.9% w/ the 5-year warranty

Seem reasonable?

I can't argue with that deal.... $12,500 for an '07 standard Vegas seems like a really good deal to me, especially with a trade in. If you can get them to throw in the exhaust and take another $500 off the bike, I'm going to bring you with me to buy my next bike!!

Wow, I guess I was a little out of touch with reality.

Went to buy the Vegas today. Here is the best deal I could find:

2007 Vegas standard brand new

I have a 2003 GSXR 600cc sportbike for trade-in. (basically stock, aftermarket slip-on exhaust, overall excellent condition)

Including trade, it would cost me $8900 + 5% tax ($445), so $9345 Total

This includes the 5 year warranty.

Is this a good deal or do you think I could do significantly better?

I still don't think that is a bad deal to get out of it for under $10K with a 5 year warranty.... especially if you don't have to dump a bunch of money in it in extras to get it the way you want it. You know how it is..... you'll have it for about a month and you'll be wanting to customize it. That's when it starts getting pricey. I certainly don't think your getting hurt, but that's just my opinion.

Nah, just some new pipes and I'm good to go.

I could always try and sell my sportbike privately, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle to save about a grand.

Definitely recommend the pipes. My bike never left the showroom (besides the test ride) with the stockers on. It kind of sounded like a lawnmower. I have the shotgun pipes and they have a pretty loud bark but not obnoxious. Hope it all works out for you, man.

I just bought a new '07 vegas from a dealer here in WA state. $12K base. they were running the factory promos through the weekend (not sure if those are continuing or not). They were not very willing to negotiate hard on the set up and freight charges (~$1K), and of course there was tasx and licensing. It starts to add up quick.

I Love the bike!!!
