I'm going to look at this bike tonight and if it works out it'll be mine.
The price is very good and the miles are low but not so low that it's sat causing problems.
I've talked to the owner on the phone, he's the original owner. He bought it for him and his
wife to do day trips and as the years passed he rode less and less.
The bike is all original!!
114.05 HP @ 5300 and 131.97 ft-lb @ 2500 it'll be a beast, this is rear wheel numbers.

That one hell of a machine and a unique bike to own. Good luck on getting it. thumb up
I've been recently watching some videos of the 2020 Rocket III with a 2.5l triple engine. (no worries...I'm only fascinated.. ;) )

The Rocket III's are putting down some pretty great HP readings. They are getting towards the Yamaha VMAX numbers.

I wonder if your arms start getting longer when ridding one from just holding on...

@vindex1963 Congrats on adding the new bike but you neglected the most important thing....To tell us how riding that torque monster feels.. :wink
Here it is, tons of upgrades.
Does it have tons or are you planning some?

What little I rode last night the bike lives up to it's name.

The main problems with the 05-08 are the dentent during breaking ignition switch wire breaking from the headlight which can be bypass by a Eastern beaver relay kit and some of the earlier models had transmission problems
You can go to the r3owner.net and find all kind of good info
Hope this help vindex1963
I've been over there quite a bit. Link to the relay kit?

funny that you posted this because this weekend i am taking the XR to a dealer down in NYC with a Rocket 3 Touring....
tired of getting the BS run around with searching for parts for the XR..
The touring is de-tuned but that can easily be fixed.

What happened?

You won't be disappointed l have owned 3 of them
My ignition stitch went out.....as I pulled into the driveway. The dreaded white wire except it didn't come unsoldered the contact on the back side had worn to the point it lost contact. I have a new ignition switch ordered. The suggestion on the forums is to go to LED headlights to ease the draw on the white wire and stop the wear. I like LED headlights and this was something I was going to do anyway.

Got in some ride time last night, this thing pulls hard everywhere. F'ing hard, like hang an hard.
I'm 6'3" and I'm comfortable on it, the Cross Country does have more room for the legs but the R3 is very comfortable.
The inline 3 sounds weird to me, I know that may sound petty and no doubt in time I'll get used to it. I've only owned
V-twins, even the V-Strom is a L-Twin.
Saturday I'm taking it out on an all day ride, pretty excited for that.

And so it begins............bye-bye $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :ltr:

We rode 307 miles from stop and go city to mountain grades, 75-80 mph to 20 mph curved roads. VERY comfortable!!! Bike handled amazing in the sharp curves. Mileage average for the day was 39 mpg, I didn't expect it to be that good. No regrets buying this motorcycle. The power of this bike, it's a 5-speed and passing in 5th is a blip of the throttle. 80mph in 5th is 3000 rpm.

From what I'm reading yes, they seem to be reliable and long living. Early ones like mine have had some transmission problems but like all vehicles you hear of the 20 bad ones not the 2500 good ones. Mine seems fine.

I've always liked those bikes but sadly I haven't seen many on the road the last few years like I used to. Kind of like a Victory!

Are those aftermarket pipes? If so, howzit sound? I like that the license plate doubles as a splash guard.

Got the cable today to plug into the ECU, now I can load maps, sync the throttle bodies, turn off the o2 sensor, raise the RPM limit, raise the max speed limit, do diagnostic checks and more. The software is TUNE ECU and it's free, the cable cost me $20. Simple plug and play. Tons of maps outside of the web site.
