I was on my way to physical therapy in West Palm Beach this morning on I95. As I prepared to exit there was a large group of bikes traveling together in the middle lane staggered at safe distance with high vis vests front and back of the pack. There was a light rain falling and traffic was heavy. I watched in horror as a SUV cut between the pack moving from the fast lane to the exit ramp ending up directly behind me. Unfortunatly for him I was driving my F350 4x4 with a steel flatbed and large printle (military) hitch. I couldnt help my self.

I brake checked the puke.

He failed miserably. My freshly rebuilt brakes and spankin neww rotors were to much for him. When he hit I released the brake and surged forward relieving him of most the shiny parts up front and all of his coolant.
I know at some level I should feel bad, but I dont. After the tow truck arrived and the cops left I walked up to him and said " If I wasnt so concerned about those bikers you cut off I might not have hit the brakes so hard" at that moment he knew. I limped back to my truck and went to my Pt, trying to recover from the jackass who put me in the guardrail in January.

Warning to caged idiots....we own trucks too!

While some would think this is not a Good Idea .. I Salute You .. Maybe it was the same jackass that nearly put me into the Guard Rail a couple weeks back on my way to the Ozarks .. Hadn't been for the Power of the Victory, would have got me.. Was no way could use brakes and not get hit ..

So all you proved is you are as big a jerk as that person was. You intentionally cause a traffic crash and as such you should be charged for causing the crash.

Just because someone else does something stupid does not mean you should do something just as stupid. From your description said SUV caused no crash yet you took it upon your self to cause a crash. You sir deserve to have your license suspended for your childish actions. Your admission of brake checking the car behind is direct evidence against you in the eyes of the law and you have now admitted it on a public forum.

If everyone was jumping off a bridge does that mean you have to go over and jump off the bridge as well? Grow the hell up. You deserve to end up getting sued in civil court over your stupidity.

According to the law, a driver must maintain adequate distance between himself and the vehicle before him to avoid a crash. If one can not avoid a person in front of them using their brakes, they are guilty of following too closely and failure to control their vehicle.

It works both ways. A few years back I was behind a school bus who was in an intersection making a left hand turn with a green light and for whatever reason she slammed on the brakes right in the middle of the turn.

I wasn't too close, but I still knew I had to brake hard and moved to the side of the road to prevent getting run over from behind. I applied the brakes and locked the front wheel in the silt left over from winter road sanding. I tried to regain control of the bike to no avail. I fell off and the bike proceeded under the bus full of excited children.

Though the skid was clear in the silt and the witnesses all agreed she had no reason to come to a halt like that, I got cited.

I talked to a lawyer and he said under normal circumstances he could get it reduced to some lower, non-moving citation to prevent points to my license, but he said when it comes to school buses, there won't be any leniency from the courts.

As the old saying goes: "Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do."
:D

A part of me agrees with what you did and another part agrees with Victory1 ... the world we live in has become a world of "I don't give a crap about anyone else". Because of that I find I tend to resort to similar "tactics" even though in my head I know I shouldn't.

I won't commend you for your actions (because they aren't right) but I won't diss you either (because it's something I might do too).

Could you elaborate on this as it leaves too much for individual interpretation and some might not be seeing the "true picture" in their mind when they formulate their comments.

Sure,

Six lane Highway, 3 north and 3 south, plus a deceleration lane for the upcoming exit. The driver in one fast movement went from the far left lane (fast lane) through the middle lane between the bikes, through the right (slow)lane cutting off a car too, and into the deceleration lane and exited the highway behind me. 4 lanes total, I couldn't believe it when it happened. Hope that clears it up.

Whenever a driver pulls some dumb stunt, my response is to say, I hope there's a place in hell for him/her. BIG ZILLA, you gave that driver a taste of what hell is like. A tip of the helmet to you, sir and may your PT come to a speedy fruition.
As for you, Victory1, BZ had the guts to do what we all have wished we had done at times and I'll wager that even sanctimonious you have too. Saddle makes the point; if that egocentric driver hadn't been riding BZ's ass, there would have been no tale to tell here.

The only thing I will say is the rule is you must have your vehicle under control. You slammed your brakes on, he could not stop. He obviously was speeding, following too closely, not paying attention. Sorry his fault

I LOVE IT! What we have here folks is an analogy about parenting. Big Zilla is the dad accepting his role to discipline and Victory1 is the nurturing mom who admonishes, "If your friends jumped off a bridge...." Gad! That took me back 70 years or more.

The last 3-4 bikes had to brake hard as well as the car in the right lane. I thought he was gonna sideswipe me but he just made it. No bikes went down. Thank God. If they had i would probably be trying to post bond, not text.

THAT is what I was looking for! Thanks

This would have been one of those times I might have done what I know I shouldn't LOL

Theres a good reason for that pic on the left. That sign appears on the turnpike in the southbound lanes just after entering Palm Beach County. Anything south of there can be hell. I try not to take any bike south of the sign unless Im on my way to the Keys

Used to live in Boynton Beach 10 Years, know exactly what you are talking about and bet it's far worse now than was 20 years ago ..

Once again as one who leads a lot of group rides still like your call in this situation ..

I was on my way
I just had a fancy VW pull right over on me on the highway. I beeped and the guy waved his hand. I need a better horn. Anyway, I wasn't sure if he was flipping me off or acknowledging his mistake. I rode up beside him and looked in at him. He didn't seem to be aggressive at that point so I reckon he just realized his mistake. Even if he didn't there wasn't much I could do about it.

I watched a guy on a Harley get pulled over on. He rode down the road kicking at the offending jalopy. I was glad that his foot never connected with the car as it probably would have caused him to wreck.

Just bought and installed the Stebel Ear Cannon air horn from the good folks at AEROstich. Love it!

Solid 139db blast to get the attention of the distracted cagers all around us. thumb up

Our society is full of people who think there are no consequences for their actions. They think it's okay to be discourteous, rude, and even dangerous on the road as long as they get away with it. After 2 months in the Phoenix area, I've sure seen plenty of what I now consider the most discourteous drivers I've ever had the punishment of sharing a road with.

What Zilla has done is remind one person that there ARE indeed consequences. He educated someone who was so selfish and stupid that he thought it's okay to drive like a complete asshole and endanger other motorists because his time's so damn valuable. Guess what, pal? Your time is not more valuable than the lives or safety of others.

Zilla, you were an instrument of Karma. And Karma dickslapped that guy right in the face, because he deserved it. Congratulations to you, sir.

We've all been in a situation where we would like to teach these dangerous cagers a lesson, BIG ZILLA did just that. Thanks for sharing.

Gator Joe,
It has changed. My great grand parents had a farm out on the island of palm beach long before the rich folks took over. Its been gettin worse ever since. A few years ago I had to move north to Stuart to escape it. The last time I rode south of the Martin County line landed me in the trauma unit at St Marys. Be glad you left when you did.

My karma just ran over your dogma. Old bumper sticker, but applies well to Zilla's good deed.
