ok im trying to figure out how to remove or unscrew the old linkake . i have the pedals and shift rod off of the bike. just cant seem to unscrew it to put the new one on any help thanks
After removing screws that hold hiem joints....unscrew heim joints. One end will have right hand threads and other left hand threads...or reverse threads.cheers
Douse the nut liberally with PB Blaster or any other penetrating oil, not WD40. Let it sit an hour or so. Tighten the nut then loosen it. It should come off with a little persuasion. If you're still having an issue, extend your wrench by putting a 12 or 18 inch long piece of pipe over the wrench. Tighten first then loosen.
are the threads damaged? if not then it probably wasn't cross threaded. if it was CT it could happen anywhere it was touched. it could even have happened at the factory although i think that would be the least likely scenario.
Yes the threads are damaged...it was cross threaded when I tried to remove factory rod...was very hard to get off.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
