shift rod linkage change

ok im trying to figure out how to remove or unscrew the old linkake . i have the pedals and shift rod off of the bike. just cant seem to unscrew it to put the new one on any help thanks

After removing screws that hold hiem joints....unscrew heim joints. One end will have right hand threads and other left hand threads...or reverse threads.cheers

Douse the nut liberally with PB Blaster or any other penetrating oil, not WD40. Let it sit an hour or so. Tighten the nut then loosen it. It should come off with a little persuasion. If you're still having an issue, extend your wrench by putting a 12 or 18 inch long piece of pipe over the wrench. Tighten first then loosen.

Should not have been that tight.

I'm thinking it may have been cross threaded. With 12k miles on my bike, my shift linkage could be easily adjusted.
