True Biker or Guardian Angel

I normally don't post stuff like this but, this situation was so unreal that I'm still thinking about it plus maybe this story will save one of my fellow bikers so, please read even though it is alittle long, but it's worth the read.
On July 4th me and my GF saddled up on my XCT to ride some mountains through GA., NC, and TN. like we do every year. We based out of Tellico Plains. On the 5th we did the Tail of the Dragon, Cherokee and just rode some very nice roads. Anyway, not sure if you guys heard about the storm that just showed up out of no where in NC and TN. We were up in the mountains about three hours away from Tellico Plains and all of a sudden gust of winds and rain was pouring down so I pulled off into a scenic rest stop on the mountains thinking I would sit it out. Some gusts were so bad that twiggs and everything else were flying. I had to fight to keep the bike from going over. It was starting to get dark so, I wanted to get off the mountain. Finally it slowed so, that was our chance. After a couple minutes it was blowing and raining again but, this time I couldn't stop because I couldn't see and didn't want to pull over and go off the mountain so, we continued on. I actually had to hang alittle off the bike to see around the windshield. I don't mind telling you that I was scared the worst that I can remember. I actually prayed as I was coming off the mountain because I really didn't think we were going to get off alive. So, now we are in TN. and it started slowing down were it was just a light steady rain. I came around a turn and saw traffic stopped. I pulled up behind the car in front of me and sat. Here is the part that is unbelievable. I looked over to my left and there was a house with two couples sitting on the porch. I asked what was going on and the guy said a tree was blown across the road. He then asked if I wanted to pull into his yard and sit it out on the porch. My first thought was no because I didn't want to be a inconvience but, my gut said do it. I looked back at my GF and she was drenched and cold so I pulled up onto his yard and we went on the porch to dry off. I thanked him very much for his kindness and he said no problem we ride also. Anyway, not more than five minutes after we got on the porch we heard tires skidding on the wet road. That car must of skidded about 90 - 100 feet then stopped a couple feet from the car I would have been behind. I looked at the guy and said if I didn't take you up on your offer we would have been nailed, he said yup. So, after the road opened up they insisted we take their towels so we can keep dry. He also said I have about two hours of riding left before I got to the cabins. He explained what roads and were the bad turns were since it was dark. We made it back safe and sound thanks to this true biker or Guardian Angel. I believe it was my Guardian Angel working through this true biker.
Thanks for reading this and hope you took something from this expierence I had. I know I did.

Why, it wasn't Jesus who levitated their bike and fed them fish, it was a fellow motorcyclist.

I sat on the side of the highway with a dead sport bike in BFE awaiting an oncoming electrical storm once. Thousands of cars undoubtedly full of religious zealots blew by without giving the distressed human on the side of the road a second thought. A fat, grizzled biker dude on a Road King pulled over and gave me a ride to the next gas station.

While I'm not ready to worship at his alter, I would do the same for him, you or anyone else. It must be that liberal biker instinct to help your fellow rider when in they're in need.

On a side note, I was out riding last night and saw a good sized buck. Fortunately, Moses was in the woods calling him back in. Then a large rabbit decided to play obstacle course with me. I got on both brakes, but on the back one too hard and did a good flat tracker impersonation. While I'm happy that Mr Dunlop sprinkled sufficient holy water in the rubber to help me save it, I am now more jealous of you people with anti-lock brakes than ever. Not sure that even a hundred Hail Marys would be as effective...

I believe God works through people. If you choose not to believe the same then so be it. I'm not trying to change you. And I GUARANTEE you won't change me...nuff said thumb up

BTW, just because a person is "religious" doesn't mean he (or she) is Godly.
Matthew 7:20
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

There are angels all around us. Most in the form of ordinary people, all we have to do is see them. Sounds like you ran across one, or what ever you want to believe. I don't believe in luck. Most do and that is fine, it is all up to you.
Fellow biker, you bet, but he was there for you when you needed him, where you needed, and in a position to help. Lots of things to add up to "luck". Some will never believe, but some choose to see beyond what their eyes show them.

Vaya con Dios

His point is that he found a passage in his book to convince Nomadic Middle Easterners that should follow a certain leadership who could give them a better way. This has been proven to be a pretty lucrative activity for such leadership though out history.

But anything he finds in the Bible can almost certainly be contradicted by the same Bible. For instance:

Luke 6:35
Jesus said: 'But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.'

Matthew 10:34-36
Jesus said: I came not to send peace but the sword, man against father, daughter against mother…and one’s enemies will be those of his household.

So WTF? He wants you to kiss up to Bin Laden and kill your father with a sword? :crzy:

Here's what I'll never understand about these types of discussions. The original poster simply posted an anecdotal story and accepted (based on his faith) that it was more than mere coincidence. I didn't see anything in that post that would attack anyone else's belief or try to convert them to his way of thinking. He merely pointed out how he took it.

If you choose to believe it pure coincidence, then you're entitled to believe that. But why does that entitle you to attack someone else's belief because their belief is "wrong" in your eyes. It seems like a huge waste of effort over something that harms you in no way.

Either way, it's faith. One is faith in divine providence, one is faith in chance. No proof either way, but why be so obsessed with trying to prove YOUR faith is better than someone else's when it has no effect whatsoever on you personally what someone else believes?

Maybe some folks should find more productive use of their time.

The heading was in the form of a question. Some people answered that they thought it was supernatural. Some people asked them why they thought it was supernatural. Some people said that because their book told them that it was foolish to believe otherwise. Some people then showed that the book in question has contradictions and shouldn't be used as a basis for motorcycle safety.

Hey guys, I'm the OP. I didn't post that situation for a Religious debate. We all have our own thoughts and feelings and that's a good thing. You know, when you have many years of riding like alot of us have that sometimes we all take things for granted like I did that day. I posted that situation as a reminder that none of us are invinciable and that maybe someone can learn from my mistakes that day. Mistake 1, I knew better than being on the top of that mountain when the sun is going down. Mistake 2, I know that I should have been paying attention to the sky even though this storm came out of no where. The big one, go with your gut feeling. My gut feeling told me to take this biker up on his offer of shelter. I almost didn't and if I didn't this post probably would not have been written. I did forget to mention that at breakfast the next morning I learned that a biker was killed trying to come off that mountain and a camper was also killed. Do, I believe in Guardian Angels, yes I do and that's just me but, this was posted as a reminder to pay close attention to your surrondings when your out and most importantly far from home. Ride safe all.

Who says there is any difference between a guardian angel and a true biker? Can't they be one and the same?

The gentleman and his wife were actually you and your wife from the future who had come back in time to ensure that you didn't get in the accident. The fact that you lived was was provided them/yourself the opportunity to offer you the kindness....reverse catch 22.

Maybe we should all agree to disagree. As for my quoting a Bible verse, wasn't it Saddlebag who mentioned the name of Jesus? Since Jesus is the focal point of the Bible, my reference to a scripture verse was totally in context. Saddlebag, and everyone else here, I wish you all the best. Now lets get back to chatting about the great motorcycles we all enjoy so much. VICTORY

Its amazing how people who don't believe in GOD try so hard to prove it.[/SIZE][/B]
Actually, it's not about GOD, but more about the practice of using rational thought based on evidence over beliefs based on hearsay and superstition.

I originally asked a very simple question. Why would an angel help our Victory friend over a starving child? I received answers like:

1. I don't want to debate. (smart answer)

2. A scripture recital of circular logic that went something like: "Unless you are a spiritual thinker then you can never think spiritually about the spirits and are thus a fool."

3. Your mommy didn't love you enough.

Now why do you suppose those who are so certain of their beliefs do everything to deflect from addressing a simple question?

Personally, I think it's because in the back of their minds they know it can't be answered. Think about it, we are all statistics waiting to happen. Sooner or later we will all be the guy who gets sandwiched between cars, or lies in a hospital bed deteriorating from a terminal illness, or suffocates from a generator's exhaust.

Insurance companies make a handsome living understanding and betting on the probabilities based on such statistical information. Ask any actuary. I'll bet you won't find one with a cell in his spreadsheet calculations of said probabilities to account for "miraculous angel intervention." It simply isn't a consideration...

I also believe that God works through people. He gives us signs it is up to us to see them.
Perhaps you did a good deed for someone in your past that kept them from danger or harm and that was your payback.

Do good things and good things will happen to you I say.
