Hello! I inherited my grandpas 03' cruiser last year, when I got it the tank and seat were off, and looked like it'd been sitting a while.
At the time we didnt have room, 6 months or so later its' ay my inlaws and he put a new fuel pump and regulator in, which it needed. Fast forward to now, about 9 months later, i've moved and have room for the bike and all my tools, etc...
So, now with a bike that hasn't run properly in at least 2 years, it has a new fuel pump and regulator (and pickup filters) as well as a new battery.
The bike will start, run for about 3 seconds and cut out. My intuition is telling me something in the electrical system is either learning out the fuel mixture or not delivering power to the injectors after starting. You can hear the fuel pump inject fuel, and the bike will continue running on starting fluid. My father inlaw claims to have had the bike running for about 2 minutes once by itself, but I havent been able to recreate this. It's got good fuel, it's been drained since i've started working on it.
I'm working on ohm'ing everything out, so far the only out of spec reading i've gotten has been the static reading for the TPS(Pin 8-->14) at 1.9K (3.7-5K).
I'm not tearing the bike apart to replace the TPS, so i'm planning on modifying the airbox with two cones on the tubes until it's running, at which point i'll do something better.
Anyways, any ideas would be really helpful, I havent been able to find anything similar to this situation that had a resolution.
Also, if anyone can link anything for the airbox solutions (maybe a breakdown of how to do the cones on the airbox right haha) opr a link to the S&S that I can't really find.
This is my first bike, and while i'm in no hurry to get it goin, it's sentimental and I want to try my best to figure it out at home.
