I know there are other post about oil leaks but I needed to vent somewhere.. Bike has been parked at my brother since late November 2 weeks ago went on an 80 mile ride enjoying the mild weather in Mass, now today i got a pic and message from my brother about the bike leaking oil. I traded in my HD for Victory to avoid these little headaches WTF.. Mileage 10,354 oil change was done in August and i had a pcv and dyno tuning done in September with KMC no leaks then?

Did your brother pinpoint the leak ? Could be the cam cover , mine was leaking right from the factory , simple gasket issue .

Wow, that doesn't happen very often.
Only a couple of things I can think of... loose oil filter, was the filter gasket lubed prior to installation? It should only be installed hand tight, check it.
The other is the drain plug... Is it tightened to 15 ft/lbs? Was the washer changed?
These are the only common things that could have happened. Something loosened while you were on your last ride. Shouldn't be too hard to check.

That's depressing looking.

Maybe something simple such as a shifter shaft seal that failed or popped out?
Couple of loose screws in the primary taking the tension off the gasket. Oil drain plug & gasket loose. That sort of stuff. Vic's don't have a reputation for springing leaks as far as I know, which is a good thing...

Just a thought..
You didn't make the mistake of parking it next to an older HD while you were out on your last ride did you? I try to keep my Vic away from my HD's as I don' t want them picking up any bad habits....

Then if I had severely mistreated my brother growing up or never paid him that 20 I lost in a bet 20 yrs ago, or if he was noted for having a great sense of humor.. I'd not stress till I had a first hand look.

We used to dump bags of rice under our friends Honda's and then go into the bar and tell them their bike was leaking all over the sidewalk. You never know what is up till you poke your head under it. Be sure to check your oil level before you start it. Goes without saying of course.

Hope it is something minor.

I will be able to check the bike out tomorrow and yes that pic was very depressing was supposed to go ride tomorrow. As i said i thought i was done with oil leaks when i switched to Victory.. It does get parked over the winter next to 4 HD's.. Thanks for the responses i'm hoping its either the filter or drain plug. I'll post after its fixed.

I'll go with brother.
Look at the size of the leak and there is no way a filter or cam cover could leak that much. Maybe a primary dought it.

If there were HD's in garage I bet one puked oil on start up and they moved your bike over it

Bad funnie Brother

Can appreciate your pain. Does your brother have a Charley or a Triumph? ;-) Seriously, I pulled my cam cover and replaced put a Lloydz timing gear on, put he cover on (no new gasket) and it still doesn't leak (I even have the reusable gasket still in the bag). As the Brits might say "I think he having you off!" :wink

My vote is that your brother is a practical joker. I see there is oil dry put down right away so it doesn't stain his precious floor. Does he ride a Harley?

My brother found the leak it's coming from the shifter gasket, we just pushed it back in hopefully it will stay. I'll post after checking further

When I have a seal push out like that, on the replacement I use the very thinnest coating of silicone gasket maker or Gasket Cinch that you can imagine, after cleaning everything very well. Put some on, rub it into the outer diameter of the seal where it goes into the case and wipe it all off then install the seal. It works well that way. Any extra and you are asking for trouble.
