Ok, got the front end from ebay and pulled out the forks, going to swap them for the ones that are seized on the bike. Now, I noticed the brake caliper moved from the brake lever side (right side) on a 99 to the cluthc side (left side) on the 2001. Any reason to be concerned if I move the caliper over to the other side? I imagine not since it was done on later models anyways, but just thought I'd check if anyone had any thoughts. Thanks.

Mind you this means that I'd be using a left caliper on the right side, so when it gets transposed over, I'd technically have an upside caliper, as in the bleeder valve would be on bottom rather than on top. In addition, I'd need to move the brake rotor over, but luckily the front wheel I bought was from a tc with a hub on either side, so I should be able to pop the cover and move it over without issue there.

make sure you use new pads. Cause the old ones will have a different wear pattern.

With the bleeder on the bottom would mean you have to take caliper off the fork and hold it up to bleed it.

Hope you're going to change fluid on new forks.

Say you should slow down on your buying and do some research first before buying

I hear ya, but I kinda had to jump, there was a limited time offer of $240 for a front end (triple trees, axle, spacers, forks and steering stem) which was in the best shape out of all available on ebay, so not much of a choice. Other options were either rusted or bent or SUPER expensive. Rather than chancing it, I went ahead and ordered a caliper for $50. Honestly I wouldn't have imagined the caliper would have moved from one side to the other over the years. Can't imagine why that was done either. Seems backwards too since the brake line is longer on the 01 than the 99. You woulda figured to keep costs down they would have left it on that side. All things being equal I suppose its all still a good deal. I heard somewhere that the top rubber dust seal for these are impossible to find, is that really the case or does anyone have a good source? Thanks.
