I wanted to post my questions after searching the common issues this model has and I've run into some conflicting symptoms that don't fit any "fixes" from the forum search....

The bike is an 04 vegas 92 /5speed with a k&n air filter and either the freedom exhaust or the stage 2 pipes.
I purchased it from a "car stealership" and they had no idea what it was or what to do with it.... I purchased it idling so low it would stall, with no history, and a recently replaced battery after it sat in the showroom for half a year.

It runs okay, rides great, and looks awesome for what little I have invested. However it has a few issues I wanna get sorted with the forums help...

1- the bike sputters, misfires, hesitates, barely backfires at anything constant on the throttle,(under full throttle I cannot notice this symptom). I have thoroughly cleaned the throttle bodies per the witch doctors youtube video (did this for my jackpot too) and reset the TPS baseline according to the forum info.
I will be replacing the TB adapter/ air intake rubber boot now that my part came in, but after spraying plenty of wd40, carb cleaner, and even ether around the TB I get no rise or fall in idle????

slightly tan plugs after 30 miles and some white soot deposit on the plugs as well. Maybe the ethanol in the 92 octane I use?

2-my local Victory dealer doesn't have the "cables" to hook up the digital wrench program!!! so I have spoken with the next closest and after 3 days of speaking with what seems to be a manager/ technician who doesn't know anything other than the newest model victory I have been given word that they will sadly not take any part in hooking up my vegas to perform a TPS adjustment..... they claim that it cannot be the TPS causing these issues and want nothing to do with fixing it for me. Is this accurate???

3-without getting in to too much detail can I diagnose a bad fuel pump or regulator with garage tools??

First thing is to use a fuel pressure gauge, and confirm it has 49psi stable running pressure. If so. Buy a VFC, and add some fuel to the cruise circuit. If you can find an older VFC2 for sale used. You will have the perfect tool for the job

Hmmmm, is the gauge a universal gauge I could use or something I would have to buy for the one time use? what kind of symptoms would a vegas fuel pump or regulator have if it was going bad..... my last bad fuel pump made the bike shut off at weird times. Nothing like that (yet :-( hehehe )

If the fuel pressure is good, you could have a bad TPS. My 03 Vegas would miss, hesitate, and surge at a lower cruising speed. Would run fine in the upper throttle range. Replaced the TPS and it runs like a champ! It isn't available from Vic any longer, but I used a Master Pro, part number 2-99037 from O'Reilly auto (should be able to cross reference at any parts house). They run about $30. They are a bit of a bear to change with the stock airbox in place.

I just had a dealer adjust the TPS on my 04 Vegas about a month ago, so there should be no reason why they wouldn't do it. I wasn't having the issues you are experiencing, bike was just running really lean.

In a low pressure of 3.5 bar of burning the fuel pump becomes difficult and in some cases impossible. Victory Vegas 2004 fine diagnosed with diagnostic OBD2 VAG COM which I use for cars. Read and erase mistakes and live data. If the fuel pump makes the pressure is lower than a rubber gasket between the pump and the regulator or O rings of the pressure regulator. I'd checked the condition of the plugs, cables and ignition coils and cleaning injectors with ultrasound if fuel pressure is normalno. The simplest is to look at the color of the candles and see what the mixture is .
