Well I called and talked to Rylan Vos @ the Vic Shop about upgrading my 2013 Victory Cross Country Tour.

He stated that the Atom Bombs were making good HP and torque numbers approx. 105/115 If I remeber correctly and thier only $300.00 which is a good price.

I'm thinking about taking a ride to Iowa and have him install the Quarter-turn Throttle Ring, Lloydz Performance Cams, ( HOH-VM1-DR cams), Adjustable Timing System, and Dyno tune the bike.

In order to save a few dollars, I might install the exhaust, Lloydz XC/XR Hi-Flow Air Filter, and the PCV with a downloaded map from Rylan prior to taking it up there within a week.


I don't know much about the PCV but Rylan mentioned it has to be hooked up to the bike to download the map if I understood him right, connection wasn't that great as I was surrounded by steel. If that's the case I'd have to purchase a Laptop which I'm going to do anyway so that's not a big deal.

I'm mechanically, electrically and compter competent but know little except what I've read here about the PCV and am worried about messing up my engine unless I would just download his map and it would run fairly well which I'm assuming it would.

What I want:

I'm looking for a nice low rumble while at idle and cruise while still being able to hear my music and yet have a very aggressive bark while on the throttle.

Questions:

1.) How do you like the sound and performance of the Atom bombs?

2.) Would it be better to have him do it all at once and pay for the extra labor or do some of it myself and save some money?

3.) I think that full exhaust systems versus slip on can yield more HP/torque....is this correct?

4.) Are there better exhuasts out there that will get me closer to 120/120 and sound like what I'm looking for?

I'm looking for some suggestions from folks who have had various exhausts, Dynoed by a competent tech, with the timing wheel on their Cross Country Tour, as well as, other well informed folks on this forum.

I don't think any slip-on exhaust is going to get your much better numbers than the stock exhaust. The atom bombs are just like any other home made exhaust, rip out the old baffles and put in a cherry bomb style baffle.

Let me see if I can help.

1) Based upon what you want, I believe you are going to like the Atom Bombs. I had installed Witchdoctor's gutted pipes and hated how hollow they sounded, not to mention realllly loud. When you fire up the bike with the bombs it has that nice low rumble you want. It smooths out nice at cruise (I have used earbuds and helmet speakers and can hear my music fine). When you get on it, it sounds great. It is not SUPER loud, but loud enough to be heard. I like them.

2) Personally I would do some of it myself and save some money. I am mechanically inclined as well and always enjoy tinkering with the bike. It also helps you get a better knowledge of where things are, how to take them apart, etc. I say do the simple stuff on your own and get it to the point where you can bring the bike to Rylan. You WILL save some good money and get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

3) From what I have heard/read, the full systems will net you a different power curve. I hear that they lose low-end torque, but will net you higher peak numbers. The stock head pipe is flowed quite well, but it is really an issue of spending almost $1k or $200-$300 for some nice slip-ons.

4) The D&D may get you some better numbers and they are little more expensive than the bombs. There are also some Ness pipes out there as well. You could go the full route of the Freedom Performance true duals, but I can't comment on if the numbers are better or not.

I also have a CCT. I think Rylan told me it was $350 for him to install the Lloyds cams, Lloyds variable timing gear and the PCV. Then add another $250 for his dyno tune. Personally, installing the PCV myself isn't going to save more than about $50 and simply isn't worth the effort and the chance of messing something up.

My CCT already has the Tri Ovals and the Lloyds air filter along with the Victory downloaded fuel map. I'm saving now to have Rylan do his thing on my CCT as described above.

I do a lot of my own work on my bike but IMHO, there's no sense in messing with stuff someone like Rylan does all day, everyday and does it so well. I'm sure he'd have the PCV installed in under 20 minutes. It would take me longer than that to determine the hows and the wheres.

Im in St. Louis and have D&Ds on my bike along with a PCV and air cleaner. You are more than welcome to come hear it and ride it to see how it sounds. If you are looking for black D&Ds, you are more than welcome to buy them from me. I think I am stepping up to something a bit more obnoxious to match my wife's Vegas.
