Looking hard at a new Vision Tour but have a couple of questions (okay, maybe a few).

1. The 2013 has a piano-black dash at the ignition switch and the floor model is already scratched from the keys. Is there a clear protector or a metal chrome (silver of black-chrome) cover available for durability? I see the entire stock dash being an annoying scratch magnet- a metal cover would be the preference.

1a. If there is not a durable dash option, how hard is it to remove the dash? If it is not a royal PITA, I might just pop it off and spray it with some "Rhino-Liner" stuff to improve the durability.

2. Zero love for the stock exhaust- damn shame an American twin sounds that anemic from the factory. I am considering adding the L1 system but have zero frame of reference. If I am reading correctly, the system includes the exhaust, air intake and re-flash. My goal is to punch up performance and a deep growl. I have owned several HD twins and LOUD is not the goal; no BLAT sound and a solid rumble.

3. Anyone have the center stand? Intriguing and have become spoiled with one on my primary bike (an '09 Kawasaki Concours C14) but looks like an afterthought.

4. I always wanted to take the TourPac off of my Electra Glide to slick it down and thinking the same for the Vision Tour. Never did it on the EGlide but definitely see this with the Vision Tour to really change the lines unless 2-up. It look like it can be removed, but how much is involved and with the integrated body panels, is there any covers available?

5. I see there is an iPod harness sold. Can it be used in the left-side "cubby" where the 3.5mm audio plug is currently?

6. Sounds trivial (I know) but I am wondering about a cup holder for the bars. I see there is one from Victory but it looks terrible. What is the diameter of the stock bars?

That is the quick list for now but I am sure I will think of more. I am still cross-shopping the Vision with a new EGlide Ultra Limited. I know the two don't directly compare (the Road Glide being a closer match) but I have had an EGlide before and liked it- and know the Glide well despite the new one being 8 years newer.

Thanks!

Allen

P.S. If anyone has the owner's manual available electronically or knows where I can download it, I would love to read up before I come up with any more questions!

For an after market center stand, avoid the one sold by Victory. It is not a strong and dependable stand. Instead go after market. The one offered by WitchDoctors has a far better reputation.

The iPod jack replaces the 3.5mm audio plug.

As for the dash and you do buy the bike have dealer buff out dash to a high shin so there are no marks.
Then find someone or your self put on 3M paint protector film. You'll never have a scratch again and you will not have dash reflecting off the windshield

Thanks to all for the responses so far.

I didin't realize I was about an hour away from KMC Powerspotrs in Westerly RI and about 2 hours away from Lloydz in New York. For performance items, I actually stopped into KMC's shop today- great guys and very informative. This could lead to some expensive but impressive mods!

this should lead you to the vision forum where you can read more about the bike

I appreciate the point, but I thought I posted my questions in the Vision section? I tried the search function on the questions I have but very little success hence the new post. If I screwed up the search I apologize but I posted the questions to consolidate my inquiries into one succinct post and would have to guess that my questions are similar to other folks new to Victory.

Would anyone with significant Vision experience be wiling to start a pinned FAQ thread here? I ask because it would serve to get folks like me up to speed a bit more quickly and my questions are shared by others that prefer V-Twin bikes but are ignorant of the Vision's details...

Anyone with a newer Vision willing to comment on the HID "upgrade" since it seems to be an add-on now?

This is in addition to the above listed questions....

I took the trunk off and its up for sale. Love the way the bike looks without it plus I am a true solo rider so the 2 bags are fine. The plate to cover the whole costs like $170 if I had known I would have tried to include that in the deal while buying the bike. Sort of silly that you have to buy a plate to cover that whole. should come with bike. BTW there is a video on how to take the trunk off and replace it with the cover. Took me about 10 minutes following that you tube video.

Love the bike, best one I have owned or ridden so far. thumb upthumb up

How do I put on the iPod USB cable? It looks like only the hook up that came with the bike works. Thanks in advance.

I answered some of your questions on the other post... forgot that the HID went away as well, and is now available only as an add on.

I know just about every item on the Vision line if you want to email me... [email protected]

Re key scratches...just use a solo key and keep the others in your pocket. Simple fix and no more scratching.
Re the center stand...I don't know of one that will get the tires off the ground - no point in that. I've been riding over 60 years and my XR is my first bike without a center stand. Ordered it with one and it was a POS that I removed and returned in two days. Now I don't mind not having one. We humans can adjust.

I really appreciate all of the replies!

I am still slated to take a Vision Tour for a ride this weekend- looking forward to it!

At least the boss-lady liked the passenger position- noted that it was more comfortable compared to the Glides. She always had a complaint that her legs would hit the bag guards but no such issue with the Vision.

I have still been searching for info on removing the top-case; specifically any part info for a cover for the mount point. Anyone have any data on it (nothing found on the Victory site)?

You open the trunk, remove the plastic plate inside. Take off 3 of the 4 bolts, remove the license plate bracket (avoid scratching the trunk) hopefully you can see the quick release plug for the lights, if not replace 4th bolt now gently life panel in front of the seat using both hands, (rubber grommets hold the panel in) then you will see the 2 bolts that hold the seat in. (When replacing seat do not, DO NOT, over tighten) Now remove seat and you will see the quick release plug for the trunk. Unplug, remove 4th bolt, helps if wife is there telling you to be careful the entire time:ltr:, now lift trunk straight up. Replace license plate bracket, replace seat, replace front panel. Ta Da you are done.

Dave,

Appreciate the info- it didn't look like there was much to it.

Does the Tour model come with the cover panel for the mount point when you remove the trunk? If not, any idea how much one is? I was looking for a part number but figured it would vary depending on paint color...

No cover with bike unless maybe you work that in. Cover is $169 and make sure you follow the color of the tail not your bike. Sales guy told me get sunset red but the tail on my bike is gloss black. Only took 3 days to get cover. Of course if you order a sunset red without the trunk and buy mine you will save a lot and have the plate :D

Just another dollar saving tidbit. We are entering into our "winter". Hot as Hell is around the corner. Dealers here sell with a decent discount come May and June. Might be worth the trip here then ride back.

Dave,

Appreciate it but I just signed the papers this afternoon!

Good price and the dealership included a crap-load of accessories including the color-matched cover, bag liners (just the side bags, didn't get the trunk one) new helmets and other stuff.

Very pleased with the deal and THRILLED with the bike. Now starts the tweaking and performance upgrades!

Thanks. Too late paid he 169.

BTW I really dislike the black handles on back of bike. Do they offer color matched or chrome. I looked only found black and silver.

BTW Allen glad you got your bike. Have fun
