Hi everyone, I have a 2006 kingpin deluxe that I love. While riding last night it shut off while riding. I’m traveling at 50 or so the first time and probably 30 the second. I’ve been riding for over 45 years and have not had one just cut out. Any help is greatly appreciated for a place to start. I did check the battery terminals today, negative was not what I would consider loose but I did snug it up. I apologize for the long post just want to put out the correct info

Has it happened since you've tightened the battery connections?

I appreciate the well wishes and the welcome. Did not ride after tightening negative terminal. I had my son in law come put his volt meter on and not running it registered 13.0, fired it up and it dropped to 9.4-9.6. Tried it a few times to be sure. It would go back up to 12 so I decided to put new battery in. Just finished the install and will try it out tomorrow. Wish me luck that was the issue. I felt it best to replace battery before taking it to the dealership

I rode yesterday and had no issues, thank you lord. I’m currently going to say it was the battery unless it happens again. Actually the bike seemed to run better than it did prior to the new battery.

It sounds like the main circuit breaker cutting out. Some people here report it as a breaker problem and replace the breaker with good results. When it was my HardBall, it was the breaker doing it's job properly and protecting against shorts at half a dozen places where the wiring loom had chafed through. I've got a lot of extra heat shrink tube, tape and extra cable ties all over the wiring loom now to cope with the rough roads I ride on.

when you have time add lock washers to each battery bolt. Stainless is good

Loose terminal connections make these bikes do weird things, but I don't remember hearing a bike shutting off because of it. When my cable came loose the oil light came on. My bet would be the main breaker failing when it got hot. Its pretty easy to replace too.

I appreciate the advice. I will definitely post if it ends up being something other than the battery. Never would have considered breaker or chafing of the wires.
