Wasnt quite sure which section to post this in but here it is..
My Airhawk R went down on me....how exciting!
Blow as I might it kept going down.
I felt extremely deflated!

The little sticky patches it comes with had held for a while but eventually gave up the fight.
I bought a proper puncture repair it with glue , patches and rougher-upper as well as alcohol wipes to clean the area prior to applying the rubber glue.
I removed the old sticky from the 1/4" split that was on the outer 90 degree edges of one of the aircells and followed the instructions fitted a new patch then smaller ones either side for insurance.
Bastard went down on me again before I got go the corner...grrr!
Came home later that night and got my trusty bucket of water to check my repair and lo and behold there was another hole in a similar place further around!
So I roughed up the area cleanex it with alcohol wipe and did another repair.
Killed 20 mins setting time on here then inflated it and sprayed the entire bladder with Wirth Rubber Care,...left it overnight and then tried it out on todays Ivory Run with the Tweed Heads Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club.
It performed with flying colours!

60,000 + miles may have a liftle to do with it.
Talking with other Airhawk users who've has punctures theyre usually along that 90 degree crease.
Sitting on it when its gone flat aint vonna do it much good either.
Dont get me wrong theyre a fantastic aid to riding all day or night in a stock Vegas seat .
And for the price if I divide the miles into the money its great value....and my $6.99 repair kit should last me another 100,000 kms easy.:smile

After looking at pictures that resembled the disemboweled kidneys out of a sick goat I had to look up what the hell an Airhawk is. A multi-chambered whoopee cushion. Whoda thunk? Comfee?

YES!!! I bought one a month before my back injury and since the injury I use it every ride. I take it from bike to bike and even take it inside at work to use in the office chairs. It has helped me a ton.

I've heard great things about certain Airhawk cushions, not all of 'em, but certain ones. Glad you were able to keep it going MBX.

2 or 3 years ago I gave the Beadrider a shot and have to say I really like it too. One wouldn't think sitting on hard wooden beads would be comfy but it is and I like the airflow in the Summer and the fact that it keeps me a little off the seat in rain. To each their own. One day I should try the Airhawk. I hear the secret is to put just a little air in them. Too much and they don't work worth a dang.

Yes minimal air is the secret but its actually no secret as its in the instructions.
Inflate then sit on it and slowly deflate.
Still in contact with the bike and not isolated like sitting on a cushion.
They really make your backside fit the seat.
On marathon rides the pressure can be varied slightly to alter contact pressure points.
Just dont make the mistake of letting your pillion have a try of it or you may not get it back:frown
Ive seen the beads on carseats but never tried them and dont doubt they work.
Happy with my Airhawk R , funny I've always had an XS650 in my life till now.
Possibly one of the most un comfortable bikes that have the arse numbing vibrations of both pistonsrising and falling in unison like an old Triumph.
Since riding 1200 miles home over 3 years ago now on the Vegas I really liked the seat at first but know now I was seduced by the power torque and feel of a sweet handling V-Twin machine and possibly quite in rapture by the experience.
But Ive been spoiled by the Airhawk R and riding without it is only for short jaunts now....couldnt go back really.

On really long trips i have carried both . Bead-seat & A/Hawk....that gives me three seat options. Some days it makes all the difference others just the seat is fine.But the bead-seat certainly does allow air flow.
I use my A/hawk at the kitchen table, and on wooden porch furniture as well.
