Howdy Folks!

I just picked up a 2012 XR Classic a few weeks ago after being in awe of my buddy's 2013 for 3 years. Sure I might be a copy cat but that's okay. I love the ride and I'm happy with the purchase. Since the bikes are identical in almost every way, I am trying to think of some ways to make mine... unique... you know, MINE! He has the tach, HID kit (which I also purchased from victoryHID), and the tri-ovals, where as I have just the normal stage 1 I guess? I was trying to do a lot of research to see if I got ripped off on the stage 1, but after reading the forums here, I think the guy was telling the truth when I bought it. Anyway, my plan right now is to remove the light bar and just stick with the single headlight, and I have to sell my other two bikes before I purchase any new mods but, if anyone has any suggestions on things I could do to make the bike more unique to me, I'd love it! Also, if anyone has any idea where to get a tach kit, that would be great. I called a few places in Canada and the US but nobody has them anymore. I def think it would make the bike better looking.

Anyways, thanks guys for welcoming me to the group, I'm both excited and nervous at the same time. My trusty Honda shadow was amazing and never left me anywhere. I'm sad to see her go but the Vic is such a nice ride, who can say no?

tach

Got my tach kit from Polaris. If they are no longer available I would still mount a analog tach. You ought to be able to get an aftermarket one from JP Cycles I believe or Dennis Kirk possibly. The digital tach is worthless while your riding it.

Thanks, I'll look it up!

Contact Paulie at Honda East Toledo re the tach. I agree, XRs need one. If your buddy doesn't have a laydown license plate bracket, here's your chance to top him. Click the link in my sig for pics and info. You can not get one as good at any price. (shameless self promotion by an old pensioner trying to make ends meet)

Would it be an OEM Tach? Thanks for the tip! Also I'll check out the plate bracket!

Congrats - let's see some pictures:) ENjoy the hell outta that thing! The first year is your honeymoon, just ride and get to know her, but after that you gotta step up and do something bold. Whether it's adding more power, more bling, more ergonomics, all the ride's little nuances will reveal themselves to you over time and you'll eventually start making a list. My best advice is wait until that list matures and has been thoroughly researched before you go buying parts WillyNilly just to see if you like it. My next best advice is to wait till you have the money to acquire the top rated stuff as you'll only have to buy it once.

Amen to that! I guess I was freaking out a bit because Vic accessories are now discontinued, but you're right. And after market stuff will always be around :)

Definitely OEM, I hope he can score you one. I am deliriously happy with my XR and love its flexibility. Windshield on when cool or off when hot. I also have a custom cut down shorty hot weather highway runs. If you are adept at wrenching, you can do all your own maintenance work - I do. These bikes are the easiest to work on and I have been riding since 1952.

Welcome aboard.
If you see something you might like don't hesitate buy it. Tomorrow it will be gone. There is to few of parts and to many riders wanting the same thing
