So I ordered a Corbin. I had one on my last bike and loved it. Something has happened with them in the last couple years. They are a mess now.

They sent my seat to some guy in Utah, I live in kansas. I had to contact fedex and get it fixed and sent to me.

Then when it arrived it was wrong. I specifically asked for the stitching to be black, and it was white. The backrest has some gawdy winged logo on it that is not at all what it shows on their order site. They didn't supply the extra bolts needed to mount the thing.

I could let all that little stuff slide if the seat actually fit. But there is a huge gap where the seat meets the tank. I've done all the adjusting possible and it will not fit in there right. It rubs on the tank at the bottom, the widest part of the tank, and will not move forward any further.

I've been back and forth with them two weeks and they are now telling me they won't do ANYTHING about it. Won't fix it, won't return it. Nothing.

I have contacted the bbb and my credit card to open a dispute case. Looks like I'll never get another Corbin, too bad cause I loved my last one.

If you're in the market for a seat, you might think long and hard before buying a Corbin.

In the meantime, I'd like to finally get my wife out for a ride with me. Any suggestions for a passenger seat with backrest? Or a full one-piece replacement is fine I guess. Anyone have photos of what they have and how it lines up at the tank, and can tell me if the wife is comfortable on it? From what I've read the Vic brand passenger seat is not comfortable at all.

Many years ago I had grievous problems with a Corbin saddle, so bad, I wrote a letter to Mike Corbin and of course, got no reply. So I swore off of them and discovered that I can get EXACTLY what I want and need by going in person to a saddle customizer.

That's what I'd really like to do, I am just having a hard time finding anyone in the Kansas City area that people have actually used, and can speak for their quality.
Here's what I found on Google and I'm in Portland, Oregon. I typed; motorcycle seat customizers in Kansas city

The problem with their seats is the company more than the build. Hope that makes some since. I got one in 12 for my XCT, totally wrong build for the bike. Nothing I specified. Sent it back and after a couple of months began calling and got a lot of the same answer to the point I wrote down the procedure and played it out the last call I made for them. They weren't impressed.
OK, trying to find anyone besides a call taker was futile, last effort to just get the seat back was a complaint with the BBB. California BBB office should be in looking distance from what I could figure out, but they said they had never heard of them. Funny, after the written complaint, I got a call from the BBB, a letter from Corbin, and a lot of banter, mostly saying how they had done nothing wrong and were in a timeline of sorts for the rebuild. Got the seat back in about 4 days, that was the goal.
I won't do business with them again, but to be fair the seat was to spec. It fit good, sat well, the positions of the rider and passenger had been corrected and only took them 5 months. I would have liked a tweak or two, but they weren't getting it again.
Still on the seat and still as happy with it as I can be without the minor corrections. Would like it to carry its width out farther and would have liked an extra half inch of forward seating, oh well.
As for the ugly stitched log on the passenger back rest it seems to be a Corbin Logo. Yea I could live without that too.

Good Luck

I used mean city cycles in North Carolina on my last bike, sent it down over winter from Canada and they did a great job. I agree though if you want it done right, go to someone who customizes seats for a living. I had mine done on a "bucket list" trip last summer from Manitoba to the west coast and down to California. Check out Rich's Custom Seats in Kingston, Washington. They did such a great job making the seat comfy for my wife, any time I get a new bike that will be our first big trip-only 1500 miles one way from my house!

Hockeyref, that doesn't happen to be yours on his site with the white sections in the middles of each seat is it? That one looks great and, obviously, does not have this nasty gap between the tank and seat that Corbin stuck me with.

I've had a couple Corbin's my trick is always say a prayer before hitting the purchase button lol. They both needed small adjustments for fitment. On my 9 it was a few washers Bon the xc the mount was mounted backwards but once I got it to the way I wanted they both have been awesome

If you want the best, go with a Russell Day Long! Spring and foam custom seat. Built on your seat pan. Expensive,,, because its worth it! The service is great, and the fit is fantastic. Here is a shot of mine. I didn't have the passenger section done.

Tang, that thing looks insanely comfortable.
This is my second Russell. By far the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on. Did a "Ride In" last time, and they built my seat in one day! thumb up

Is that the outfit that's west of Redding, CA? If so, that's quite the ride-in!thumb up

Ya I have a bunch of in-laws around Redding. Worked in N. Cali. in the 70s, and found a keeper down there. Took the long way down thru John Day, Lakeview way. Around 1200 mil round trip. Might make it to Baker City on Sat. I'll look for your ride! Some good rides around there!cheers
