So guys I'm thinking that a chrome or polished swingarm would look great on my bike. So what I'm thinking is I'd like to find a used swingarm to sand down and polish would be much cheaper than the nearly $700 for a new chrome swingarm. Just curious if any of you have done this?

Yes it can be done very easily just as you stated. Ebay has many swingarms for pretty cheap Ive found and you can get the basic polishing done for about $100 for the sides and front areas. No need to polish the whole thing. Mine is off a cross country but you get the idea.

1) bead blast it if you can
2) sand with 400
3) sand with 600
4) sand with 1200
5) send it to the polisher

you can see more here on my build

That is so cool, polished aluminium..... are all swing arms from aluminium??

But maybe you can buy this; Spraying Spectra chrome on the swing arm?? look the video on this link??

I would love to have a chrome swing arm, but we cannot buy this paint in Asia yet.

PS no matter what you do, do not forget to grind away the bracket inside the swing arm, so in the future you can always install a 300mm tire?
