New to this site and just picked up a used '06 kingpin w/ 21k miles. Guy had 3 other bikes, retired cop and took great care of bike (has tons of extras). Anyway, so here is the problem:

Last night was out for ride w the wife and we stopped for dinner, upon leaving the bike started fine, kicked it into gear with the typical clunk, but as I let out the clutch and started moving it sounded like I was running over empty pop cans. It only did it that one time and was fine rest of the way home. No slipping, solid shifts.... When we had 100+ degree weather I noticed it was somewhat tough to shift but not impossible. Had the local Victory mechanic ride it and he said it was fine. (this was a couple weeks ago). Now the whining noise has gotten louder when decelerating. Could the transmission be going out? Clutch plates? I just changed the oil a few hundred miles ago with victory oil and filter. Ideas?

Why not upload a sound bite to utube.

Mine scared me after buying and riding it over 300 miles home. I changed this oil a few days ago with Rotella T6, added Seafoam, and filled up with premium. No loud knocking or sewing machine sound. It's still loud in front but I'm still getting used to not having a radiator to muffle some of the engine sound.

Well, I think I figured it out. Took for another ride and it was coming from the right side, only on deceleration. Got to where we were going and I checked the belt tension... there was a lot. Why? I will show you! The rear pulley was loose, found out what the "crushing cans" sound was, it was because on of the rear pulley studs was ripped from the wheel by the swing arm and tore my pulley up. *ouch*

Good news it's an easy fix. New pulley, new stud, and might as well get new belt while I'm at it since I don't know when it was changed and I'm pushing 22k miles.

Pics coming and youtube vid too.

Anyone know where to get the cheapest rear pulley from? I don't care if it's used. I need a 70 tooth for an '06, ya?
