I don't know about where any of you guys were today but here in east Tennessee it was a high of 84 degrees and sunny for most of the day. Great weather to hit up the Foothills Parkway and US 129.

Lucky me traffic was light and there were only two cops on the dragon. I have found that a friendly wave to the police while making eye contact seems to keep me from getting pulled over on that road. It's really when you ignore the that they chase you or call ahead.

The more I get to ride this bike to more I love the way it handles. When I switched to it from my previous bikes I really didn't think it could be this much fun in the mountains, but it's awesome. I don't like to fly by other vehicles in double yellow line territory and and corners and luckily today all the other cars and bikes saw me coming and moved over rather quickly.

After beating the crap out of my floorboard i decided to have a look at the rear tire to see where the wear really ends and how much traction I have left before I lose lean angle and took a couple pictures.

I can't wait for kill boy, 129 Slayer, and moonshine photo to publish there shots from today. I think i really have she good ones in this batch.

The only down side of the ride was coming back in tot he city during a monsoon. I was totally drenched and had quite a bit of water in my boots. Unlike a lot of the cars there was no way I was going to pull over during that storm. When you're going through hell, keep on going.

We were up close to that area at Hiawasse GA. this weekend. Weather was great and the ride was terrific. Took GA 180 and 60 home, saw three sherrifs on 180 between 129 and 60. One had a couple of crotch rockets pulled over, luckily other riders gave me a heads up.

How many miles you got on the donuts Garion? Looks like you've effectively made slicks out of them. Looks like they still have a nicely curved shape to them. I've been really impressed with these tires. Mine have over 6k and still look great. I'm usually changing tires on the FJR by that mileage.

The tire have about 6k on them. They're okay but i wish someone made a good dual or try compound tires. I wanted to try the Pilot 3 tires but of course they don't come in the right size. Even with the wear there seem to be doing good in the rain though. I had no issues when riding through a river on the way back home.

If i didn't have to work I would have gone with you!!!

I need to try out the Dragon on my new Avon Cobras!! They are absolutely 1,000,000 better than the Dunlop E3's!! Rode the Devil's Triangle a couple of weeks ago and they felt like they were glued to the asphalt!!

Guess I'll have to wait till a sickness comes over me <cough, cough> ;)

I love that area, yes 129 does get too much traffic, but the other roads are actually better IMHO. I have been traveling that rode for almost 40 years. My father was born there on the North Carolina side, Robbinsville, it sure has grown in the last ten years.

I will look for your bike next time I get down there.

I might be out there one more time before I leave for awhile.

Here I go off on a tangent but: After those two officer finished ticketing n the Dragon they left down the Foothill Parkway. I followed them since I was leaving and didn't want to pass and get a ticket. That guy went a pretty consistent 70mph for most of it. the speed limit is 45mph and 25mph. I just love the hypocrisy of some of these people writing tickets.


Joe Schmoe - I think I may take your word on the Avon cobras and give them a shot. Are they a softer compound all round or just a better rubber compound? How are they in the rain? I have to ask since I have a bad habit of being caught in storms when riding?

Treeboy - I knew there better roads out there but I just never took the time to explore and find them. I may make finding some without such a police presence a priority this summer.
